Ever Feel like you are being Shopped?

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Ever Feel like you are being Shopped?

Post by mapo » Mon Oct 04, 2010 12:01 am

Well, like the topic says, "ever feel like you are being shopped?"

You know what I mean...a 'guest' who tries to get you to tell all the secrets about your role or the location or ....

Or a post that gets just too into the details....

Or a phone call to the front desk that is just a lil too knowledgable???

I get the feeling the Disney 'shoppers' are very active on line and on property these days.

Any one else?

Odd you posted this Mapo. Just 2 weeks ago I realized a person I trusted (non DLR CM) has befriended me for my ID only. Why this did not compute prior angers me. :( From now on it's 1. think twice. 2. Rethink. 3. Keep mouth shut! 4. Act with wisdom. 5. Decide if the questions actually need valid answers. 6. Shut mouth! 7. Say no in less than a sec. 8. Shut up! 9. Drop the friendship. 9. Always realize my ability as a CM & ID is a draw.

It's really too bad when you have to keep new friends at arms length because of where you work. It is understandable though. When we bought our home in Hawaii it was amazing how we all of a sudden had all these "friends" who wanted to drop by for a few days, or wanted to know how big the ohana was, or who wanted to use the place for a family reunion for two weeks. The funny part was they weren't even smooth or sneaky about it.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Yeah...well on the whole ticket and discount thing, I have one simple policy.

NO to *everyone*.

NO comps...
NO discounts (room, merch or tickets)...
NO signing in people on my Maingate...

You wanna go? Cool! Get your own room, food, hotel, and tickets.

And NO, my house is not your hotel EVER.

Wow. That's a new low.

But if that's the case, I bet dollars to donuts .. mmmmm, donuts.... that there are CMs who work it the other way around.

Parties of 33 should consider dividing their parties into two groups of 16 and a half each.

People suck. I had a very, VERY, VERY sweet CM sign us in one day. It was an awesome privilege and we were (still are, never go away) grateful for that. I value the friendships over a free ride on Space Mountain. Sorry you had to deal with this :/

I guess there is no point in asking to use the place for the next 5-10 years?
