I just got back from visiting the Scoot. She's looking better. She was on her belly instead of her side and holding her head up. The tremors were only affecting her head. The rest of her body didn't seem to shake.

The doc told me she was able to stand for a little bit before I got there. It's not dramatic but she does seem to be improving.

The doc also said that things may go up and down. He can't say for sure if her current condition is totally the cause of whatever got her or the meds she's on.

He told us originally that it would probably be 48 hours before the crap is out of her system so I'm looking forward to Friday. I want my little buddy back. I really miss her.

Very Sorry to Hear about Scooter having such a bad time, you know she is totally confused by it all.Good to hear she is looking better and hope you can all get some rest tonight.
She is a sweet little doggie,but tough! I'm thinking she'll be back to sleeping in the middle of your bed and squeezing the humans to the side soon :) .

You're right about Scoot being confused by it all. I sat with her for a long time yesterday and could tell she just wanted to come home. I put my arm across her paws so she could rest her head on it. Once she did she seemed to feel better.

I talked to the doc for quite a while. He's still concerned she may suffer secondary organ damage. I hope he's just trying to present the worst case and everything will be fine.

I woke up cold at 3:30. It took a bit to realize I couldn't pull Scooter next to me to get some warmth. I really miss her.

I got to sneak in this morning to see her. What a difference. She can stand on her own and is very alert and curious.

I had another long talk with the doc. He's still trying to figure out what caused it. He did say he's detected some liver function problem but she's also got really thick blood so that may throw off the test.

It looks like she may come home tomorrow or Saturday. We can't wait!

hobie, couldn't post when I read. Made me very sad. I love animals more than anything. Am relieved Scoot is better, on tummy, & more alert. Please post when he is home & under your covers. My American Cocker is a rescued heart. He was bitten twice same night by a rattlesnack, yes, in our yard. Chances were so small. Vet bills very high. My vet was in N.Y. on busineses but handled all his care via cell. I took my baby to another larger ER vet hosp. complex in Tustin. Went in on the 2nd night dreading what I had to do. The nurse brought my once strong boy in. He was simply a black ball of jello. My heart broke. The nurse asked the question. Before I could answer my sweet boy began wagging his nub of a tail. He was saying; "No Mom! NO! I am getting better. I will be home." The nurse smiled & said; "He needs rest & time." Three days later my beloved boy came home. I still am blessed by him daily. I will pray Scoot does the same.

Glad to hear you doggie survived such a terrible ordeal,MS Our Pastor Neighbor stepped out his door and right next to a rattlesnake with 5 rattles and a button recently,luckily snake was groggy and didn't bite him. Scared him so bad he got a shovel and snake lost
Hobie,I'm sure you already did this, but comb yard carefully to make sure Scooter doesn't find whatever it was again.Glad to hear she is on the mend :)

MS and DM, thank you for your words of encouragement. I'm really sorry to hear about your pooch MS. It's great that he pulled through.

I visited Scooter twice today. This morning she was standing on her own. She was very aware of what was going on around her and showed a lot of curiosity about one of the in house kitties.

This afternoon was even better. When the receptionist came in to see how we were doing Scootie started wagging her tail. She's getting back to her normal self.

The doc is still concerned about organ function. He did say her white cell count is dropping which apparently means her liver is coming back on line.

It now looks like she got hold of some snail bait. The receptionist recommended a few brands that are animal safe so it looks like that problem is solved.

My wife was gone for a few days but now that she's back we'll both go in to see Scooter. That should really get her tail wagging.

Thank you all again for your words of support. It really means a lot to me.

Good to hear that the baby is doing better.

Here in Florida we have a number of poisonous things that the dogs like to chew on. Of course, I had to learn the hard way.

If the dog decides to chew on a frog/toad, massage vinegar into the dog's gums and tongue. Warning: this will bring up everything...I mean everything! Of course, rush doggie to vet to be safe as the poor thing is puking in the car.

Oh, and yes, dead frog/toad is still poisonous.

I am very happy for you, your wife, and Scooter. I don't know if you're a religious man, but I have been praying for all three of you. I recently spent several thousand dollars on vet bills for one of my cats who was having severe kidney issues. Fortunately, she made it through okay. I know what an ordeal it can be and I'm glad things seem to be looking up.
