Can we ask for advice ?

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Can we ask for advice ?

Post by pbb » Sat Sep 04, 2010 5:20 am

I know everyone is off the clock and relaxing. I was just wondering if we can ask for vacation advice on SGT ?

We are visiting WDW from 11/27 thru 12/3. We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and are staying the first 4 days at BLT and the last 3 at AKL! No kids on this trip! Of course, this did not stop our 23 year old son from trying to invite himself and his GF on the trip, LOL.

We go to WDW quite often. So, I am trying to figure out something special to do that one would not normally do on a WDW vacation. Any suggestions ?

We are going to the nicer restaurants such as California Grill, Jiko, Yachtsman. I set up our dinner reservation at CG on the night of the Very Merry Xmas Party and we are eating late enough to watch the special fireworks from CG. We have plans to do the Candlelight Processional. No Narrator as of yet though.

If this is wrong to ask......My apologies in advance ! Thanks

If the weather's good, pack a lunch and rent a canoe at Ft. Wilderness. Paddle downstream (away from Bay Lake) until it's quiet enough for a nice picnic. Can be romantic if you avoid tipping the thing over.

But no funny stuff--they rent more than one canoe!

So how much of that isolated private place might one have to share with the more "natural" Florida inhabitants? Seems like it might be a "critters" paradise.

The canal is between Fort Wilderness Campground and the Osprey Ridge golf course (and now, the Golden Oak construction site). Thus the chances for bear and panther are remote.

That said, basic Florida algae-bra states that Florida + water = alligators, and where they go, so too do water moccasins (dat mean black snake wid attitude problem).

I'd say out of overgrown areas, and avoid making a noise like a wounded rat, but otherwise I wouldn't worry (much).

Oh, Man...my wounded rat impression is my best one.

Are there cameras in the woods ??? Nevermind......Americas Funniest Home Videos is on ABC. We would not want to risk that ! :)

That is a pretty good idea though......We do go canoeing during the summer. I would imagine there are no risks of rapids there. We don't do rapids well. We are 3/5 for getting through the rapids without being in the water.

After seeing a 4 foot snake walking from the monorail to the entrance on the grassy landscape, I would not go in the woods for a golf ball much less a romp. Also, I recall seeing two small alligators in the river in Frontier Land. Of course, there were SG's feeding/throwing a turkey leg to it. I wonder why it did not want to go back to nature.

There was a 4 foot snake walking? That would be worth money I would think. I believe that alligators were there before WDW. To them it is nature.

I did see a couple of relatively good sized snakes swimming in the River in front of the Castle one evening during the parade. That told me to stay out of the water there.

I guess Sir Hiss was late for the parade! I was walking and the snake was doing whatever snakes do.....Slither ?? It was very pretty but you want to see everyone freak over it.

Behind the scenes tours? I especially liked the Animal Kingdom one and the one that lets you swim in the Living Seas.
