Policing of GAC Cards
Re: Policing of GAC Cards
Its honestly the average sized people they should watch at a buffet. When I go to Todai (sushi buffet) I can down 45-60 pieces of sushi, along with a salad, soup, Teriyaki chicken, a crepe for dessert and some cookies.
Then there's the guy that can go through 100 crab legs plus 40 pieces of sushi....

RIP Bud Hurlbut.
You will be missed.

Re: Policing of GAC Cards
For the record, my above example was by no means meant to imply that everyone who uses a GAC is abusing the system. Like I said, Jake was using a non-stairs one for the first evening, and after he nearly killed himself, we've been using a pushchair since.
Yes, it apparently causes line bypass sometimes, but we'd certainly never use it specifically for that purpose. It's hard work pushing 150% of my weight around the parks!

I've been advised more than once when I mentioned I was going to Disney to rent a wheelchair to skip lines. I always say I'm way to superstitious to do that.
I guess the thing I wonder about most is why people do this. I thought the main job of a parent was to teach your children to live independently. Waiting in line is a great life skill to have. Publix won't give you a front of the line pass, neither will the DMV. I always wonder if these parents have any expectation that their child will someday be able to function in the adult world. I mostly wonder this because my son was diagnosed as emotionally/behaviorally disturbed last spring and on the advise of a few teachers we are having him tested for autism. I don't want to set my expectations too high but I'm much more afraid of setting them too low.
OK, on a lighter note: I drive from FL to MA every summer and the speed limit thing freaks me out. Pretty much ALL of I95 going through Maryland was a construction zone this summer and in many places there were signs saying that this was enforced by traffic cameras. With my out-of-state plates I kept to the posted speed limit and was almost hit many times even traveling in the so called slow lane. Scary, but I can't afford a ticket or any points.

Agree entirely, Moonstone. There definitely are some out there who need special accomodations ,but setting expectations for your child is absolutely necessary! Will look forward to your son achieving BEYOND all expectations, BECAUSE HE HAS A GREAT PARENT! :)Moonstone wrote:I've been advised more than once when I mentioned I was going to Disney to rent a wheelchair to skip lines. Have you noticed the people that win those "speed eating" competitions? You'd think they'd be, well, my size, but most of them are in the normal-to-skinny range. Go figure.Freak wrote:Its honestly the average sized people they should watch at a buffet. You're referring somewhat to my son in law. I swear to god that you can read a newspaper through him and you would not believe how much he eats. I think I hate him.BRWombat wrote:Have you noticed the people that win those "speed eating" competitions? You'd think they'd be, well, my size, but most of them are in the normal-to-skinny range.
