Re: What not to ask a monorail pilot or say while in the cab...
Just wanted to apologize if we are guilty of too many questions in the monorail cab. Just for the record we never ask what you are paid or where you live because that is just rude & uncalled for. If your not really driving I don't want to know because it would wreck the magic, so don't tell me that either. (Just like I don't believe the jungle cruise skipper isn't all that is standing between me & certain danger!)
We have learned so many neat things from Monorail drivers & they've all been especially informative.... Even the last driver we got who was forced to inhale the lovely smell of 4 brand new out of the package plastic rain slickers on our travels from TTC to MK through the pouring down rain!! (Hey, we came all the way from NY for this!! Of course we are going to Extra Magic Hours in the rain) Actually driver was great & acknoledged that indeed he too would brave the rain for the amount of $ we were spending to be there!!
We love to sit in front car.. Just magical! Drivers never even act like they hear the same questions all day long..Thanks for that!!
Off subject, I just don't understand how this sort of post could offend someone.....I'm glad you have a place to vent, so you can SMILE (Whistle?!?) while you work!! :D:

Nice find PapaMouse. If only we could put those on the late night PI buses. :D:PapaMouse wrote:

No, no! We want to ENCOURAGE dancing... but only at times when the lights are on and we can see what is going on.Cranbiz wrote:Nice find PapaMouse. If only we could put those on the late night PI buses. :D:
And as far as what steverails was saying, I think the thing he really has a problem with is when it is no longer just a few questions and it becomes an interrogation. On that, I feel exactly the same way.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Re: What not to ask a monorail pilot or say while in the cab...
Hmm...annoying questions. Let me give this one a shot:
1) Did you remember your "exiting the park" call?
2) How many times have you had to say "Monorail Red E-Stop" today?
3) Do you get a big smile every time that guy with the awesome accent says "Monorail Shop copies"?
4) Do my radio calls annoy you as much yours annoy me?
Of course, I'm kidding with that last one. If you hadn't figured it out, I'm a Conductor on the Disneyland Railroad. We share a radio channel with the Monorails, and that has led to what you could call a "friendly rivalry." I don't take it as seriously as some others do. In fact, when the Monorails beat us in to the Roundhouse at the end of the night and finish the radio call with "Goodnight Steam Trains", I like to reply with "Goodnight Monorails. Sweet dreams." or "See you tomorrow." or "Have a good night." or "I love you!" :D:
See, Monorails, there's no hatred or heated rivalry from me. I love you guys like George loves his autistic buddy, Lennie. OK Monorails, we'll tell you about the rabbits again. ;)

I can tell. So, you know my friend, Jay W. He also works on Steam Trains. One time when I was visiting him, he replied to the Monorail calls with "Main Street Station copies." :D

Jay is the man! He is so cool. He does Special Events all the time, so I haven't seen him in a Trains costume in a while.
It's always fun when the Monorail Pilot accidentally does their spiel over the radio. Every unit on the channel copies, and sometimes, if it's a good day, Control will copy too. So embarrassing.

I always see him at the Opera House. He doesn't work anywhere else because of his restrictions.McGintoy wrote:Jay is the man! He is so cool. He does Special Events all the time, so I haven't seen him in a Trains costume in a while.

I heard a Monorail pilot did a spiel once over the radio and he got a response from Train Central, lol!!

I do what I can, lol.
I love the fun we have on the radio with the Monorails, even though sometimes when we joke around, their Lead calls our station and tells our Lead that we need to be professional on the radio. Haha, we're just having fun. And it's Disneyland, after all :clubb:
