SG Parents on Splash

Post by LucyintheSky » Sun Aug 29, 2010 5:02 pm

I went to the MK yesterday for my birthday. I don't get to go there much anymore (I only have an Epcot after 4 pass), but my husband got me a ticket so I could go for my birthday. :D:

I had a fantastic day, aside from one irritating incident. I was in the loading area of Splash, and the CM put the family of 5 that was in front of me into the first two rows, then me into the 3rd. I'm sure she expected the 3 kids to sit together, then the parents behind them. Well, as we're waiting to move up into the rows, they were in my way, and arguing amongst themselves, and I could tell they were trying to take my row, too. (And by now there were two more people waiting for the last row.) So I sort of inched around the mom and stood where I was supposed to. The CM came back and had to tell them again to go "2 in one row, 3 in another", and then *I* told them the same thing after she left. They were trying to have 2 kids in the front, then mom, dad, and the other kid in the other row, and muttering how they wouldn't fit.

By this time, our log pulls up, and I go to get in, and I heard the mom say, "I guess I'll just sit with her..." I'm thinking NO WAY! I LIKE sitting by myself, especially on Splash, and I didn't really want to sit with someone I didn't know, considering how much they were annoying me with the not listening to the CM and their attitude about it. So I sat right down in the middle of the seat, like I normally would. So eventually nearly every CM there had to come over and insist that they sit down, and have the 3rd kid sit in the front. The woman had the nerve to complain about how I wouldn't let her sit with her, and thank god for the awesome CM who said, "Ma'am, she's not WITH you, I'm not going to make her ride with someone she doesn't know! And I told you to sit here!"

THEN, during the ride, the father was a total tool. He kept reaching over into the flume and splashing water. Mostly he was getting it on his kids, but a couple times he purposefully did it backwards, onto me. I, unfortunately, am not a "confrontation" kind of person, especially when I'm alone, I get really shy. So I just sit there and fume. But I really wish I'd had the nerve to say something to him. Grrrr.

Like I said, other than that, I had a great day, and I saw some really amazing CMs. I'm a former CM, and I know how hard it can be. So thank you all!

Apparently they got a breeding license even though they were denied.

I would've splashed the dad back. Maybe gone for a headshot of water would've made him stop.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

Happy belated birthday!

People not going to their assigned rows is normal. You tell them clearly what rows to go to and they go somewhere else usually be because they don't listen or want to spread out more than they should. In your case it seems they thought they wouldn't fit. They don't seem to understand the CMs know how many fit per row.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Thanks Shorty!

And I know, I used to see that ALL the time when I was working Small World. Irritated me to no end.

I thought about splashing them back, but I didn't want a CM to see me and think *I* was a SG! Plus, if I did, it'd just make the jerk do something worse.

:birthday: I'm glad you had a nice day despite the brainless family in front of you.
"Ma'am, she's not WITH you, I'm not going to make her ride with someone she doesn't know! And I told you to sit here!"
I love it! Don't you love it when CM have to very explicit with SG to get them to understand.

What *is* the seating policy for this ride? Every time I've gone, we've been two to a row, except once, when I was put between the two pre-teen girls I was with (and we were quite crowded and I didn't like it).

I'm not sure what the official policy is, but I've always thought it was two regular sized adults, but 3 smaller people or kids could fit together. I've seen 3 teenaged girls all sit together several times.

With my slightly larger than average backside, its is my self and my wife OR kid, but not both. The time we squeezed into one row was very uncomfortable. The upside was the our lower halves stayed dry, as the water could not find its way down in the boat we were so tightly packed in.
