A great day at work today

Post by Cranbiz » Tue Jul 31, 2007 6:20 pm

Now that I have been trained at all the hubs I have been moved to mornings (with little hours, why?).

So I'm doing MOD (Magic on Demand) for Studios and I'm given 2752. It's a bus that will be retired and has no MiM's box (yea for me). My first assignment is Yacht and Beach for Magic Kingdom. Now we all know how I feel about guests there as I have has some of the nastinest comments about my spiels from them. Today I have to spiel so I give it the old college try and use my routine. Now I have added a little bit of new stuff (Thanks Big Wallaby for the ideas) but it's still the same basic spiel.

What a reaction from this full (and I do mean full) busload of guests. They loved it and I way getting applause at every break. When I got to MK I ended with Wallaby's "the pleasure was all Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine."

I can't tell you how many guests came up to me and said how they loved my act and how much better it was than the canned spiels.

I felt sooo good after that I did the same act on my next run, Poly, Grand Flo to Studios. It went over just as well, many of the same comments as the first busload of guests. Next run Carribean Beach to Epcot. Same safety spiel, tout the wonders of free soda at Club Cool and that you MUST try the Beverly, throw the Every Person Comes Out Tired quiz at them, the pleasure was all Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine etc. Another busload of applauding, happy guests with several wanting to know how to find Club Cool (thats when you know that they listened). I was having so much fun today that I even volunteered to postpone my break so that I could keep going.

Finally have to go to lunch (Zone 4 was having kittens over my not taking a break)

After lunch, what happens? I get 2768 another non-MiM's bus. Start the same thing over again. With the same reactions. So much fun in fact that at the time I should have been reminding Zone 4 (that's the labor coordinator at Studios) that it was time for me to go home, I took another run. Another hit, more fun for me and my guests. Finally get called on the radio to take my bus to TTC to go home.

Now I can't wait for the opportunity to do this again. :D:

Thats great! I know exactly how it feel to get a whole busload (or in my case a truckload) of guests laughing, smiling, and thanking you. It just makes your whole job that much better, not to mention makes the time fly by, when the guests are just totally getting you. Wish more of the guests knew how much effect their positive reactions have on the CMs. Wish you the best of luck working around your new bus system!

That's why when I get in a bus now, the MiMs never works to my liking and I just have to completely take over the system. It's always interesting to see how different the reactions are now from before. It's rare that I have someone not get into my spiels these days, because they completely crave the attention that they used to have from their driver. That's part of the reason that if I get into a bus and suddenly find that it's blocking me out of the system, I get very agitated and upset.

I agree that the Yacht and Beach Clubs are a completely different place to drive than two months ago. The people appreciate you now... If you are not their first driver and you give them the show they (as our guests) deserve.

The next time I have someone ask me who I talk to about commending me, I am going to coach them a little bit... tell them to make sure they mention that I am *so much* better than the automated system, and they think on my buses that should be torn out. Okay, not that much detail. But I will have them say that I did everything but a singalong, and if I had been SGT's other marsupial, I would even have done that!

Isn't a bus full of applause a wonderful, wonderful thing?

What? It's a proven fact that wombats sing better than wallabies.

I really hope I get one a Wallaby or Cranbiz bus while I'm visiting. It's going to become a quest!

A person should arrive at the park gung ho and happy. I see your bus rides as a pep rally to energize people so that it is not "yawn, day three, see MK then Epcot". Do you need any tools like wire cutters?

Wanna stalk 'em with me? MUHHAAHHHAAA!

Hey Big W and Cranbiz, if we get you for a driver (you'll know us, crazy fat ppl in custom matching shirts) ask my DD4 to do the "please Mr. Bus Driver" thing she does. You will find it cute and amusing.
I have a personal request-----SING A LONG YEAH!

Does that mean Wombat's coming? I mean, I would love to lead a sing-along, I really would... I would also love to have people enjoy hearing me sing. But unfortunately, that's not going to happen. So no sing-along with me... but I'll make it up to you.
