I'm headed down to Orlando at the end of September. I have an event to go too but will have a couple of days to hit WDW.
As some of you know, I am at the age when I can semi-retire. I have a Class B CDL with Passenger and have been involved with commercial busing for the last 8 years either as a driver or as a supervisor. I have driven the make of buses that are used at Disney and currently teach others to do so.
I am looking for a part time bus driving job (I have had enough supervising to last a lifetime. Just a job for about 20 hours a week that I can enjoy and then go home without carrying problems home with me.
In short, I think I am very qualified and possibly stand a good chance of securing a job anyplace, but I want Disney.
I am aware that unless I have a local address there is a slim chance of getting a job there (if not impossible) but I would like to talk to someone about the odds before I pull up stakes and head 1500 miles south. I'm not looking for promises, just a reasonable discussion that would leave me with either a "it is possible" or "stay home, we don't want your kind here".
Does anyone know what the best way is to talk to someone, is it even possible, are they even looking for bus drivers and what should I bring with me to help with the discussion.
One other thing, I have had a full, neatly trimmed beard for almost 35 years now. I don't even remember what I look like without it. I realize that I cannot work there with the beard (unless I can prove that it is a religious rule...tee hee) and I am willing to get rid of it to get the job. My question is...should I shave it off before I speak with anyone? Will having it hinder consideration or will they understand that if I don't work there I want to keep it. If I can work there it is history?

I think your chances of catching a role at WDW with your background are excellent.
You could try calling or visiting Casting, but if so be ready to move forward with a fixed date to move south.
Don't worry about having the beard at audition -- volunteer that you know it has to come off and that you're willing to shave. Mustaches are now permitted.
