I figure that if its that important, they will leave a message.
Two fold, one I am sometimes separated from Mrs. Ktulu when we ride alone, and two, while not on-call 24/7, I am pretty much on-call 24/7 :/

My reasons as well. And with another juicy gig in the offing, it's worth the inconvenience. Plus any emergency support calls trigger a days pay for me. And I like to use the wait times app "Lines" to see whats going on on the other side of the park before I walk over to encounter a 70 minute wait.

I have an old cell phone. (SP) Razer. It works and if I want to up grade, Verizon charges more.

My RAZR is four years old. I just put a new battery in, did a little cleaning, and it's as good as new.

In fact, the AT&T sales team was a no-show for a cast even today, so I'm pretty negative about them right now.
I disagree. I have had both and I have ATT now, never once did it go below full bars, ANYwhere I went.

I've had good luck with AT&T on WDW property. Even on the golf courses, I get a great signal. (I'm not talking on the cell phone while playing golf, which is a big no-no, but I have used it to look up weather forecasts and such just to make sure that there's not going to be a thunderstorm.)

Inside some of the buildings may be different. Your mileage may vary.

Yeah, the apps are useful. So is letting the kiddos play games while in line. Due to my position, I don't get anything if I get called (or when I'm in the normal on-call rotation), but I do have perks of a schedule that is not strictly enforced, plus I can work from home, and I also have the company issued equipment that allows me to work from anywhere. Once I took care of an issue while cruising down the highway, my wife was driving, so it wasn't that exciting :)

It would be really weird if I called work after finding out something while on vacation. Unless a customer happened to call me directly, which could happen. I consider a few of them friends.

Since I am not really in the "customer" business, it only happens when something major happens.

it was on 9-11-2001, and it made a bunch of us rather busy.
