Working CM ride "sitters"?

Post by Ice Bear » Fri Jul 30, 2010 1:02 am

Are working CM at a ride also ride sitters for children who's parents can not go on a hight restricted ride with them?
Example: a mother with two children ,one is a baby, goes into the waiting line. Coming up front they just have to ask a CM and he will take the child on the ride.
Are CM even allowed to take responsibility for a guests child?

No, it's not allowed (or anyway, not "supposed" to be allowed).

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

If it's an older kid, they might wait at the exit, but the CM will not take responsibility for them and there's no way that any CM would watch a baby. The reason is two-fold, one we have a job we have to do and can't watch a child (especially a baby) too and if something were to happen to the child, not only could Disney get sued, but the CM could as well.

I might have misunderstood, but I thought the OP meant that the CM would actually ride the ride with the older child while the mom waited with the baby?

If that's correct, I never came across that scenario when I was in attractions. But I would think that it was something that definitely wouldn't be allowed.

Sorry I did not explain myself very clear :(

The scenario would be Mom ,baby and child 5 year would enter a waiting line.
Coming up front a CM would accompanie, babysit or "ride sit" the five year old IN THE RIDE, so actually ride the ride with the kid. Mom and the baby would wait at the exit.

Nope, not allowed by any stretch of the imagination. If a child doesn't meet the requirements to ride alone a member of their party that does must ride with them. The CMs' responsibility is the safe operation of the attraction and it is the parents' responsibility to take care of their children. Most (if not all) attractions with height requirements have Rider Swap so guests can take turns waiting with children too small to ride a certain attraction, then "swap" with another adult guest from their party to experience the ride without standing in line twice.

I saw that thread and had to keep moving.....

I just can't believe (ok I don't want to beleive) that people really think WDW will provide a CM to ride with their child. How did it never occur to the parent that there MAY be a ride a baby can't go on and they should have PLANNED for it? Honestly these people know where they are going to eat 6 months ahead of time but they never thought to check for height requirements?

Personally I think Cm's have a few more important thhings to do (like run the ride) than sit with snowy.

Also if its height restricted ride, don't they keep all under height children from even getting in the queue just in case the SG tries to sneak the kid on.?
