You don't know about a grant until it happens. Get in touch with people. There are people out there who can help. Is it possible to find kids in the neighborhood who would help with the outside of the house? are you able to have a painting party?
In some cases, and this is a longshot, there are trade schools who might need to learn on a house. Check in the area. If you have a school that is teaching kids construction, see if they would like to take the carport to code. You give them the place to work, and they will in turn teach the kids to do it. I know such things exist, why not look into it.
I wished I lived in CA so that I could help you. sigh. Hugs from the hot state of Florida.
Mom may lose the house.

Thanks Zazu, sometimes we must send a hug another SGT poster when they really need it and now is definitely a time when Churchy could use ALL the hugs she can get from us!
I have been remembering you in all my prayers to the Big Cheese, Churchy! And I know everyone here is sending hugs your way!
We loves our Churchy!!! :)

I can see instances in which a nice, tight hug, right around the neck using two hands would come in handy :twisted:Zazu wrote:Given that this is the STUPID Guest Tricks site, we haven't needed one.

Zazu we all need hugs once in awhile. Not just like my problems but for them CMs who have had a rough day with guest and/or management. For the members whose day stinks. I just hug people in writing but sometimes a smiley might be better. CMs post here about a lot of manure they go through each day and they deserve a hug.
I need a nap because I was forced to choose between friends last night. One said I could not be in her secret group if I helped Ken out. Ken gave me a job online and has been a friend for longer. He even loaned me money to go to the convention. I tell kids on line to never let one friend make you choose amongst friends unless the other friend is evil. I listened to my advice and chose the dear friend Ken.
Also the friend with the secret group said I was not suffering from depression and lied. I got the scars and bruises to prove I have depression. I am waiting to hear from the city.
I watered the back yard for the first time in months. Small steps. I thank you all for taking me in and helping me through the darkness. Strangers you all were to me but now you are friends online. Even Zazu has been kind to me in his way. Thanks Zazu and everyone.

Churchy-
It's times like these that you learn who your friends really are. Hang in there and keep us updated, K?

I know that feeling, I've had it multiple times before (although once it was induced by Ritalin). Love and hugs you will get from me, but absolutely no tire marks across your back. Heck, I couldn't even do it to a racoon the other night at Fort Wilderness, and I hate racoons for the things they did to my cat when I was growing up. If I won't run over a racoon, how much less will I do it to someone I appreciate? I couldn't bear to think I had run someone over, much less someone like you.mechurchlady wrote:I wish the light at the end of the tunnel was Wallaby to run me over and end this all.
I know depression is real, as it runs in both my family and that of my wife. I have seen how debilitating it can be.
I once had a pastor ask me during a trouble spot in my life how it was going. My honest reply was that I was going through hell. He came back to me with two words: "Don't stop." Made me think. And grow. So now, I pass that advice on to you, my friend. Keep trudging. From this distance, it is hard to help in any other way than moral support, but that we can all promise here.
More thoughts, prayers and pixie dust. Oh, and here's a smack on the head, filled with sense, for your mom. To be given with love, mind you. But I don't think that's a problem.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Thanks Notatourist.
Wallaby you are so sweet. I was hoping to go under the bus between the wheels and I finally told my friend that I was not going to stop giving my friend Ken sweepstakes for his site. She drove me so far back it is not funny. I am doing better and did another load of laundry. It usually takes me a week to finally do laundry. That is from when it is needed to when it is finally dry. I took a nap tonight which is good, I tend to stay up until I crash.
I want a Wallaby snug toy. I am coming back slowly and this site helped me when I was in my darkness. I guess what they say about CMs is true, they are kind and good hearted. Everyone at thiis site has put up with me and helped me. Thank you.
