I hate to have to say this but there are cities in South Florida which have made it a crime to run over a duck. Yes, sad to say, you can hit a person and not even get a traffic citation, you hit a duck and it is considered a criminal offense. It is a very strange world we live it.

Killing a duck (out of season) is a crime here in Canada too. However the police were quite adamant that the woman should not have stopped in the passing lane. Because she did, a man and his daughter are dead. The fact is that there would not have been charges if she killed the family of ducks. Horrible yes, but better than killing two innocent people.

A Horrible Tragedy :(

But this is why we should all try to drive a safe distance behind the other cars-What If they suddenly stop?

I piss off a lot of the other drivers here in Cali because I only do about 65- 70 on the Freeway- even in the slow lane, 70 is too slow

Disneymom is correct about safe following distances. What if the engine or rearend had siezed up in the ladys car? Same result, without the brake lights.
The gal that used to baby-sit my sons bent up her car trying to miss a cat. 2 weeks later a lady here in town was killed when she swerved to miss a cat. Unfortunately she didn't miss the phone-pole. :(

Personally, I always try to drive no faster than the stated speed limit. That typically means I stick to the slow lane, but that's fine by me. If someone wants to go faster, there's a lane to the left they can use. I also keep at least a car's length between me and the car in front of me, sometimes even more.

Works for me - and I'm not a speed limit driver. I'd rather slower drivers keep to the right lanes - and you said you do, so that works out just fine!!!

Now if only I could mount machine guns in the front of my car for the idiots (same three idiots I see pretty much every weekday morning) to shoot at those that get in the right hand lane, find a slower driver, then keep right next to a slower driver in the right lane so you cannot pass. Idiots...

What about the motorcyclists who drive between cars just to go around them just because they think they can? Not everyone can open their doors in time to catch them.

Sorry, but I can't stand to see an animal run over in the street. Especially cats. Saw one this morning on my way down here to the library. :(

There is a highway around my area that I would advise you stay away from in that case. I take it on the way to work and there are at least 3 corpses each day, usually coons with the occasional skunk. There are also birds sometimes.
