Gotta love Leiji Masumoto. :D:

The scary thing is that Galaxy Railways and it's parent title, Galaxy Express 999 take place in a universe where Space Pirate Ships are literally space battleships crossed with age of sail Galleons, (or even a Zeppelin with a Galleon suspended beneath it in one case,) but that he's also crossed over Space Battleship Yamato into it. That's right, the original Space Battleship anime, which he co-developed back in the early 1970s.

And just to set the record straight, I'm a huge fan of the man's works, and have been ever since Yamato was brought to the US in 1979 as Star Blazers...

Can you imagine what the older girl used as a reason why she had only one shoe when she got home?

I once read a children's book about a little girl who went shopping with her mother and asked for a pair of red getas (traditional Japanese sandals). A few days later, she was playing "the weather telling game' with her friends, which involved kicking a geta off one's foot, saying, 'May the weather be fair!" and if the geta landed right side up, the weather would be fair. If it landed sideways or upside down, different weather was forecast. But not only did this girl's geta land on its side, it cracked. So to hide the crack in the wooden geta, she got her getas muddy. When she got home, her mother suggested she wash her getas and dry them in front of the bath fire. The red dye ran out of the straps, and the crack showed up plainly. The girl thought she was in trouble. Surely her mother would not buy her new ones so soon. But she did, and explained she had told the weather-telling game as a child herself, so she understood. Now the girl was grown up, and found her old getas, and sent them to her granddaughter along with the story behind them, kind of as a family memento.

Disneyguy85 wrote:Tonight, I was at DCA in the holding pen area for the new Silly Symphony Swings attraction. The ride ended for the current riders, everyone is getting off and then I see this boy crying hysterically towards a CM, I quickly gathered that this boy had dropped something into Paradise bay. (I later found out that it was his shoe) Now, I'm not sure if it fell while he was riding, or if he had put his shoes in one of the storage baskets and when the ride was over, it fell in, and I don't know of he lost his shoe because he was doing something stupid, or if it was just an accident, but his mother was PISSED. She smacked him in the head and called him an idiot (more than once) and said "We're going back to the hotel!"

After I rode, I looked down to the lower deck, the family was there and a CM retrieved the shoe with a hand-held grabber, and even after getting it back his mother was still pissed, and his younger daughter (possibly following the mother's influence) also called him an idiot.

It all happened so fast, but really, his mother should not have reacted the way she did! In retrospect, I feel that she should have been a little more understanding, especially in public.
Future Lizzy Borden growing up there. :D
