Well, I missed the Ryman -- didn't see your post until tonight -- sorry! We probably passed right by it since we took the Church St exit, but we were headed for the HQ of the Barbershop Harmony Society on 7th St. Not surprisingly it was closed -- everyone's up in Philly. It was cool enough seeing the exterior, tho -- they've done an amazing job with it. Then we went to look at the Grand Old Opry and Opryland Hotel before moving on.

<i>Loved</i> the drive across TN --nice to see trees and mountains! We're with friends in Maryville for the night, then northeast thru VA tomorrow!

The word wiz refers to Cheese Whiz as a topping. Other choices are American or Provolone cheese.
The first word is your cheese type, followed by your onion choice.
Wiz wit (or wid), is shorthand for a cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz and fried onions.
Provolone witout, is shorthand for a cheesesteak with provolone and no onions.

Nice, long but uneventful trip up through the Shenandoah Valley today. It's beautiful country. We're staying with friends from college in Vienna VA - the guy was best man at our wedding.

How was DC? Did you go to the Smithsonian? Some monuments? You know Pictures MUST be Taken... can't wait to see the Philly Trip Report. :D

Hey, Purpura! I'm actually planning a family trip to DC for the last weekend of July. I have written to my Congressman to get a tour of the White House, but haven't gotten a definitive answer yet (I was told not to expect one until right before we leave), and we're going to visit the Washington Monument, some of the Smithstonian (I don't want to totally bore my children), the Capitol, the US Botanical Gardens, and the National Zoo (must see pandas!).

I promise to take lots and lots of pics!

Go to the Smithsonian Air-Space Annex out at Dulles. That's where all the stuff that wouldn't fit in the original building on the mall is.

***Went and saw Wombat and the VM last night. Absolutely wonderful! The talent those guys have is amazing! It was very enjoyable and I hope they bring home gold.
