I remember an interview where he was asked why he was named Matute. He replied that he was the runt of the family.

Agreed, 47 is way too young (and too close to my current age)!
The first thing I thought of was an SNL commercial parody from many years ago. It was for a cruise line, where every ship in their fleet came with entertainment, activities, fine dining -- and Manute Bol. He was on every ship. All he did was smile and wave, but it was hilarious. I seem to recall it even took a funny/creepy turn with a family waking up in their cabin, and there was Manute Bol in one of the bunks, smiling and waving. If I find it online, I'll link to it, but so far, no luck.
