Ropes are not jumping!
I was playing at the parks and were walking around the Dumbo's ride. This guest wanted to get his family already in line. Instead of going around he decides to jump the rope and in the process his foot gets stuck in the chains. The guest leaps forwards and hits one of the poles. Honestly I was shocked he kept his teeth but it was a solid hit with that pole. What is it about ropes that makes everyone lean, jump or go under them? Do people not get that for your safety you shouldn't cross the ropes? Is it really that hard to walk around? Parent's even encouraged the children, do they get the kind of lesson they are teaching?

One would at least hope these folks are getting the lesson the solid concrete and hard posts are teaching!Tinker Bell wrote:I was playing at the parks and were walking around the Dumbo's ride. Earth to Zazu,Earth to Zazu,I doubt it. He probably bitched that the chain wasn't the correct height for 'him' to circumvent it.Zazu wrote:One would at least hope these folks are getting the lesson the solid concrete and hard posts are teaching!

Solid, unscalable walls ala Halloween Horror Nights are the future. With twisty panels to shorten the queue upon command.
That or spikes along all the top of the railings to stop the idiots from climbing/sitting on them.

Though I fancy myself something of an optimist, sometimes I get the impression that even barbed wire would only slow some people down, and CMs would then have to deal with SG asking what all this red stuff was leaking out of their hands...PhilimusPrime wrote:Solid, unscalable walls ala Halloween Horror Nights are the future. It's the SG Law: If there is a rope or chain, you must jump over it.
This happens all the time, a SG will "try" to jump a chain or rope, but their foot gets stuck and do a face plant into the concrete.
One night, I was working Fantasmic! I was walking back through Tomorrowland and Astro's line was still open, this was at park closing, so I closed it. Apparently, the HISTA/ Astro Lead went to help out the BLAB Lead because a SG would thought it would be ok to jump the chains to go on BLAB when the park closed. As a result, the SG tripped on the chains, BROKE IT, and had to call for a CFA run.

Re: Ropes are not jumping!
On the "Starboard" queue at Pirates, the line that takes you thru the dungeon with the deadlocked chess game, down by the loading area, there is a rope that blocks a path to a backstage area. I was leaving the load area heading to another position in rotation, only to be the one to try to step over that rope, and have a face to face meeting with the floor... IT HURT! Don't be an SG and climb the ropes! I have learned firsthand...

I can't count the number of times I've told guests to either go under or unhook a chain, never step over them as they could fall, if they need to exit a queue or whatever and I've only been in Attractions a few weeks.
One time I tried stepping over a chain and caught by shin on it. Thankfully I didn't fall but I did give myself a nice bruise for a few days that hurt a little. Taught me not to climb over chains.

That chain must have been 6 feet tall!Shorty82 wrote:I can't count the number of times I've told guests to either go under or unhook a chain, never step over them as they could fall, if they need to exit a queue or whatever and I've only been in Attractions a few weeks.

Re: Ropes are not jumping!
LOL! It was actually a low chain, which is part of the reason I attempted to step over. It's so low the "flag" on it nearly touches on the ground. I learned my lesson and now always unhook chains and if they don't unhook (though most in my area do) I duck under them.ktulu wrote:That chain must have been 6 feet tall!
