Brakes work...

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Saw this earlier on CNN from the cockpit POV. I love the comments in the article, "The guy calmed down after a cup of coffee". Hell,I would have needed a shower and a clean pair of pants.

The passengers on the US Air flight taxiing by really had a front row seat. Yeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Me being a pilot I will tell you that...well...it's not hard to do that. Flying taildraggers is one of the hardest things to do, only because you can't aply steady braking.. Planes do not have anti-lock brakes...just like the older cars where the ABS was the driver's foot tapping the brake LOL
Re: Brakes work...
Never flown any of the older planes like that, but I have to agree with you on the applying breaks on a plane :) My first landing (in a Cessna) scared the *BLEEP* out of me.fcsflyboy wrote:Me being a pilot I will tell you that...well...it's not hard to do that. On the video, it just flips over so smoothly. Its like someone just says, "play dead" and it just flips over like a dog doing a trick.
Re: Brakes work...
A taildragger's center of gravity is behind the wheels. When the brakes are applied the CG wants to keep going so keeping control is sometimes an exciting adventure.
I learned on tricycle-gear airplanes and would need 10 or 20 hours of instruction to qualify for a taildragger.

Not bad...I am a glider pilot, which is a taildragger, but we have a skid plate or a wheel on the nose haha....I am working on my powered rating, but I don't think it's ever going to happenmkemp wrote:A taildragger's center of gravity is behind the wheels.
