No, the character attendant is the one who takes care of that (closing the lines, and such).the Cookieing Twiget wrote:Interesting. Of course they shouldn't have mentioned their break, but I didn't know that about hard closings. I always assumed that they just told the last person that they were the last person, then they closed. Hmmm.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

You're assuming the guest is remembering the actual words spoken by the character, not rewriting history to enhance their family's treasured story of being slighted and oh-so magnanimously forgiving the whole of Disney.joanna71985 wrote:Actually, in that example, the CM could have gotten in a lot of trouble. ... the character shouldn't just go off and mention breaks (if anything, they should say sometime more pertaining to their character).

I dont get to WDW nearly enough, and often we do the buffets so we dont stand in lines to visit - but we have seen, heard the handling CM talk very nice to families walking by that the line is closed, giving an excuse that does make sense with the character -
(at least at Epcot is where I've observed this)

I also think that story sounded a bit overdramatized. I had a friend who took her daughter to DL and the princesses were leaving the autograph area but as they left for their breaks they stopped and greeted all the children who were approaching. Her daughter didn't get an autograph but she was soooo happy that they all said hi to her. Have never heard or seen a character behave out of character while visible to the guests. When people get home they start changing a detail here and there in their stories to make them seem more interesting.
"I once caught a fish THIS BIG!"
BTW, I never go to board x cos it seems lame. I'd rather hear directly from the CMs what I can do to make my DL trips better for me AND them. Don't ever want to be an SG! :)

Actually, if you make it into the line before they close it, they have to check you out, or they can loose their job. That is why most places have a chain or cord that the cashier can pull across the line to close it keeping more people from jumping into the line. I know when I was a cashier I always would stop checking out whoever was there to walk around the counter to close the line, then finish everyone in line.
