Yeti and Carnotaurus on Vacation?

Post by DonohoFlnkr » Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:14 pm

We (me+wife+kid, parents, sister+her family) leave for our 2nd home on Saturday. Parents' 1st trip in 10 years, sisters' first since may 05. So, none of those 6 guests have ridden EE and I don't think parents have ridden Dino!

I've made the mistake of "stumbling over to" Board X and saw some of their posts. I read that the Yeti is on reduced movement therapy and someone posted that the big guy on dinosaur is on a vacation of his own.

I read that the Yeti has been hampered for quite some time, but wondering if it happened before Easter 08 or after? We were there that week and if the movement is still like that, then they will still get the full effect. However, someone posted that he wasn't visible at all. Any info on this?
Secondly, can anyone confirm the Big Red guy's return to DinoIndy?

If this is anti-policy, mods, I apologize.

I've made that same mistake many a time.

I'm a California local, but I've heard that the Yeti has had problems.

Its not uncommon for animatronics to be taken out of rides to be worked on.
It can make the show slightly less exciting, but these things have to happen. It makes more sense than shutting down the entire ride.

In Disneyland, the crab in Pirates was gone for several months. A month or two ago it finally returned looking fresh and much better.

Last I heard (2 weeks ago?) the Yeti is in Mode B, or completely there with a strobe light but no movement.
The dinosaur is not moving and is a head on a stick right now.

yeah, I went to look for other things to do for parents (early 60's, but mostly still active) since it's been so long since their last trip. They took me and my sister to WDW so many times when we were growing up, we feel like we know the place far too well. My parents, however, never got to see any of the park openings b/c we always slept in when we were younger and robbed them of those events.

Last trip, my family and I witnessed all but the Epcot openings and made it a point to schedule to see all of them to FINALLY let our parents see them this trip.

I'm kinda bummed about the TTA/WEDway audio track being altered (Mom's favorite ride :) )
No one other than my wife, daughter and I have seen the POTC Depp rehab or Finding Nemo show. Mom doesn't remember seeing Bug's Life, and I have a feeling she would remember :)
We're all excited to ride TSM and see the new queue for SM.

So, mode B is "arm waving but no movement" or no movement at all?
IDK if we saw mode B or not when we rode, but after the backwards-in-the-dark mode, and the fact that it will be their first time to ride, they may not even notice.

And, thanks for the info!

As I understand it B mode is no movement at all.

oh well, thanks for the info. We're still going to enjoy our trip and the ride!
We'll try not to provide any fodder/examples for the CMs/this board ;)

From what I have heard, Yeti is chillin out with some strobe lights, and I'm not 100% sure on Carnotaurus, but he may be back in his usual terrorizing photo spot... when I talked to cast members, they said he was out for a short rehab... possibly a couple weeks... maybe less... again, not 100% sure...

I'm pretty sure I read a few days ago that the Carno was back. :)

Burbank is toying around with a few things to give the Yeti some movement. Not exactly "A" show, but at least something more than strobes.
