WALL-E meets himself

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

WALL-E meets himself

Post by Disneyguy85 » Mon May 31, 2010 2:25 pm

I've known about this for a while now, because I was actually there live watching this as it was being filmed!

WALL-E was actually done with his set, the line had been closed off and he was just about go backstage, but then his host spotted this boy and of course they just had to let him meet WALL-E.
I love WALL-E's reaction, as well as his host's. One of the photo pass CM's was cracking up!

Some official Disney camera crews were there as well, and I believe that they used this for some promotional material.

that is some of the magical moments that are great about Disney that I love. Granted I wish Wall-E made a visit to WDW for a while but oh well.

Unfortunately, I don't think that WALL-E will be vising any of the parks anytime soon, at least not unless its a controlled environment.

Apparently the Disney lawyers are nervous because WALL-E is very heavy and they are afraid that if he were to roam around in the parks, he could accidentally run over a guest's foot with his treads.

That's why he has never been seen roaming around any of the parks.

you are partly right about the lawyers... unfortunately WALL*E does weigh about 500 lbs. and could hurt a guest if not controlled properly, but also they found his treds could be problematic to the roadway... he being so heavy that on a hot Florida day and not spread out like a parade float... could mess the asphalt up.

Note from Big Wallaby - This guy snorts pixie dust! Ask me for details...

That makes sense...
In 2008, he was supposed to make appearances in DCA, but they were canceled.

It must be tough to be a robot celebrity.

But here's hoping that he will be back at the next D23 Expo!
