Re: Another Disney Arrest
Disney can deny it all they want.
I point attention to Steve Jobs who said "it is not happening" about iPod, iPhone, iPad, and MobileMe.
Will ABC be gone? Who knows, but when it comes to any company denying things, the next question is "So we'll see this event/product in about a year or less correct?"

so when are they going to start building a courtroom at DHS?brad wrote:Fox does not own AI. AI is a production of Fremantle Media and 19 Entertainment. Fox purchases the show to air it, but it's not network produced or owned.
ABC is a thorn in WDTC's side right now. Mostly because its programming is pitiful (but that's cyclical with all networks really) and advertising is hurt by both the economy and the low ratings, not to mention companies that ABC News alienates. ABC affiliates are also upset with the company because ESPN has taken away much of their sports coverage (which was produced by ESPN anyway) and are also concerned about life after Oprah since most stations that carry Oprah are ABC affiliates. However, considering Oprah routinely gets her butt kicked by Judge Judy, it's not such a huge deal anymore.
Disney has since denied the reports that any such talks are in place anyway.

I agree with Brad....the shows ABC currently has running are not that great compared to other networks and they did loose a lot of sports to ESPN. That being said....I wish that they would bring back TGIF and Sunday movie nights. I used to love watching the movies Eisner would introduce and the shows on Fridays nights were corny, but weren't they supposed to be??? (I still watch reruns of Sabrina on the weekends)

Don't get me wrong. I have ZERO doubt that if someone put forth an offer that made Iger salivate, he'd chomp at it before you realized it. I suspect he was even intentionally putting out a feeler at the shareholder's meeting (and that the alleged guilty parties were feeding into that). But I would believe they're not actively doing something about it. Until it starts doing what the Studios did to them not too long ago, there is still a lot of value in having a network in your empire.
In any case, I think the perpetual sale of NBC and the failed attempts at offloading Miramax are proving to be prime examples as to why one might want to hedge their bets in terms of Disney actively trying to dump ABC at the moment.
it is way beyond the days of TGIF though sadly. but all network tv is. it's taking itself too seriously to compete with an onslaught of cable networks that pop up daily. it's time to force some synergy and make the employees at Seattle Grace head to Disney World
