Star Tours Prepares for Reimagining at Disneyland, Walt Disney World Resorts

Post by Disneyguy85 » Wed May 19, 2010 10:03 pm

Most of us knew that this was happening, but what you may not know are the actual closure dates;

"Star Tours will close at Disneyland Park on July 27 and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on September 8."

So be sure to get those last rides in!! :)

Also, here is a video of when Star Tours 2 was first announced at the inaugural D23 Expo in September 09, my sister and were there and saw this live!;

Please note; the preview video has been condensed. What you don't see is at the beginning, a pod racer gets stuck on top of the Star Speeder. So rest assured, guests will still be riding in Star Speeders, and the pod race is only one part of the experience. :cool:

*shakes head*

I was afraid of that. Guess Star Tours will never be a great ride ever again.

I knew they were going to bring in crap from I,II, & III.

A new tour will be fine. I just hope they don't have us "racing" with pod racers or anything dumb like that. and that's what it looked like in the video.

I also agree with one of the comments in YT, They should offer both the old tour and the new. they could even upgrade the old film to 3D (not sure why EVERYTHING has to be 3D now).

I can't wait, the Pod Racing scene was one of my favorites from the new movies, minus the close ups of a young Anakin fixing his pod racer. The sounds, the debris from crashing pod racers, should be interesting!

I've got the pod racer game. If the new stuff is anything like the game it could be great!

We had a blast at the Expo. :cool:

I've also heard extremely good things from friends who have been a part of Test and Adjust over at Epcot... The new projection system will blow us all away... and I am jealous, because they also got to see Body Wars with the new projection system...

But will they be adding an audioanimatronic Jar Jar Binks ? :eek:

There are great merch possibilties in taping the 3 new movies. Think about the JarJar plush!
