Go over to board Y and you'll get quite a few "East Coasters" inquiring about DL vs WDW. One big + is that you don't have to wait 1/2 of your time to get from park to park.
Sure thing. I bet it's nice to be able to go to DL and DCA all in one day and still be able to make it home in time for dinner :)
I on the other hand enjoy planing a week vacation at a place where there is enough to do that I can spend one or two days per park (thus not wasting any time traveling from park to park).
Your right, DCA was an attempt to keep people on property, They saw that everyone was going to WDW for the fun stuff, so they slapped together a fair in the parking lot tossing in attractions that are popular at WDW.

The mistake made was unfortunately simply lack of money. Walt's friend Art Linkletter made mention of that in one of the book's I read (Be like Walt, I believe). The real mistake, was that Art didn't listen to Walt or he would have owned all the land around Disneyland and made a fortune.
Calling Disneyland a mistake has got to be close to a capital crime in these here parts.
While WDW has been my resort of choice due to travel constraints, I do want to make it out and visit the park that Walt built... even if it would fit in MK's parking lot. The Carousel of Progress is the only thing in WDW that I can think of that Walt actually had his hands on or a say in.
Parties of 33 should consider dividing their parties into two groups of 16 and a half each.

As one final word here on the subject;
I have to point out that since opening in 1955, Disneyland has gotten better and better. Aspects and attractions that were not working out were changed or removed, and I should point out that Disneyland is bigger today and has more attractions than when it first opened.
And if I may point out something else, Mickey's Towntoon in Disneyland is far better than Mickey's Toontown Fair in Magic Kingdom....Perhaps that is one of the reasons why Toontown Fair is getting demolished to make way for the Fantasyland expansion.
And if one wanted to talk about size, the 12-acre Cars Land will be opening at DCA in 2012.
For the first time since maybe the mid-90s, in recent years Disneyland in California has finally been getting some new attractions that match or perhaps even rival some of the grand attractions in WDW.
As Imagieer Bob Wies said of the DCA expansion in the Summer 2009 issue of 'Disney Twenty-Three';
"Many of the attractions we're adding to Disney's California Adventure are among the most technically sophisticated projects we've ever done. Its a huge project"
Now to get back on topic;
I think its clear that the return of Captain EO at Disneyland was a success, I'm glad its back for a while and its cool that WDW, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris will also be getting EO.

And it took DL THIS LONG to catch up to the standard of WDW, thus it is given the title Disney Beta Park.
