An extreme SG ran their rental boat into one of the MK ferries.

His claiming the ferry boat should have yielded the right of way to him is stupidity and entitlement at its finest. I hope he is given lessons on basic physics as well as bigger vessel has the right of way. That's like saying if you crash into a train crossing the tracks, the train is responsible for avoiding you. Yes, I've heard of people with that belief. But train locomotives don't have steering wheels, and they can't run off the rails. They tell you in driver's handbooks and in driver's training classes the train always wins. I'll believe the ferry captain before I'll believe this fool. Just another idiot trying to blame someone else for his stupidity. Wonder how much he had to drink. I noticed some comments implied he was trying to get rid of his wife and make a lot of money off of Disney at the same time, and one or two put the blame on Disney.

When I went to WDW last October with my friends, we did take the ferry back and forth. The ferry goes majorly slow. We have seen the mini 2 seater boats speeding through the water ways. We have seen our boat captain call the water marina officers. These CM come out and tell the SG boat renters to slow down or give up the boat.

When I read the incident report, the last few sentences read that her husband is probably get charged for reckless driving. I think he should get his driver's licence terminated for life.

Also, I would not blame Disney's ferry captain for anything. The skipper did the right thing and stopped. Backing up and calling for help.

If the SG can not comply to the safety conditions, they can not get a boat. At work we have safety issues. I remember: Do not take short cuts, you will get hurt. If you are taking an electric beverage cart through the parks, you better have it running on turtle. If you have it on rabbit and you hit a SG, you have to stop and report it to security and management.

Forget the fact that we just need a Parking Tram Accident to complete our WDW Transportation Accident Bingo.... The main thing we need to take away from this is the most important thing ever....

EDIT: OK... So this happened last thursday. Leave it to WESH to keep up to date on anything that happens at Disney lately.

"He stated that he believed the ferry was going to move away for him and his wife, but he then noticed the vessel was coming at their boat when it was only a short distance away."

That guy is an idiot if he believed that. The CMs tell the guests when they rent the boat and it says on the forms they sign state that the smaller boats yield right-of-way to the bigger boats. The little motorboats yield to all other vessels. This is a basic rule of the water and basic physics. I've piloted those little boats on Seven Seas Lagoon/Bay Lake and Crescent Lake (Yacht Club) more than once and it is not hard to completely avoid the ferries, especially the ones that go between the TTC and the MK. Those travel in straight lines always along the same basic path so it is easy to stay completely away from them.

The only exception are the sailboats as by their nature they are not very maneuverable and are completely dead in the water if the wind dies down. The lake patrol keeps an eye on them though and if the wind dies down will tow them in.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Ah, you beat me to the "yielding to larger boats" topic.

Side note: Love how WESH loves to gloat on their coverage of all the accidents (including still the Monorail).

I must interject a correction to the facts.. it was not a Disney Ferry Boat.. it was one of the run abouts ( water taxi's ) at Down Town Disney... Much smaller.

If it had been a ferry boat... they both would have been dead at the sceen.

*looking into my crystal ball*

I foresee WDW not having any transportation in the near future.

Side note. Looking at the report, They black out the woman's address, and home phone but leave her cell phone number listed, but they black out the husbands cell and home phone LOL

It had to be one of the shuttles that run from SSR/OKW/POR DTD.

Stupid reporters can't even get that right. These are pontoon boats on steroids, not the large ferries. I don't believe you can navigate from DTD to Bay Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon.

How can you not see one of them and tell if it is coming at you or away from you. They are still larger than a Searaycer and they don't run very fast.

I suppose he has Dewy, Cheetum and Howe (you don't pay unless we collect monetary damages on your behalf) on his side.
