Suuush!!!
Disney didn't want that to get out, because only CM's and VIP's are using it during the two year test.
plus that will give them enough time to complete the branches around the greater orlando area attractions.

Re: How About a New Transportation Rumor
Sorry to burst your bubble, but some of us have been working on this project since 2000, right after Disney's Transportation Study failed to make the case for extending the Monorail to the "new" Parks.Cheshire Figment wrote:We could start a rumor that WDW is going to put in a new property-wide automated People Mover system which will include the TTC, all the non-monorail Parks and Resorts, and also link to both Sun Rail as well as the Intercity Express Train routes. And you have a touch-screen to select your destination.
Of course, all of this will be free. But to make it even better, and so it will not be a blot on the landscape, it will all be underground!
Working design will look like a single-car version of the TTC, and yes, it would have a touch-screen control. It would also sense the RFID chip in your ticket and offer to take you to your car or your hotel. Narration would be in your native language.
All this is off-the-shelf technology. The sticking point is building the Magic Kingdom station to handle more than 60,000 passengers/hour for the post-fireworks exit rush. Right now it takes three modes conspiring to handle this, and the results aren't entirely satisfactory.
And yes, this would replace not only the buses, but the monorails and probably most of the watercraft once fully deployed.
It would also replace most of the trucks on property, as cargo versions would interface with the automated warehousing system to deliver goods during off-peak hours.
But it would not be underground, except for cast access to the Magic Kingdom. Remember the low water table. Most would be on the surface, with bridges at intersections.
Those with expertise in the field are invited to contact me for an invitation to join the planning group.

Re: How About a New Transportation Rumor
I thought disney was just going to create a submarine system which would replace buses but traveling through the Florida aquifer from resort to resort and park to park. Grated I would not want to drink water from the aquifer if they did thatCheshire Figment wrote:We could start a rumor that WDW is going to put in a new property-wide automated People Mover system which will include the TTC, all the non-monorail Parks and Resorts, and also link to both Sun Rail as well as the Intercity Express Train routes. I wonder how long it would take for this rumor to gain credibility on several other boards? :vampire:

Underground people movers? Submarines? Jet packs?
Please, people. Don't be so gullible. Nothing like that is ever going to happen at WDW.
I mean, it's completely unnecessary. Everyone knows that Disney already has Star Trek-style transporter technology and is just waiting to finish testing before implementing it.

"Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a escalator!"
Seems like Dr. McCoy was the only character on Star Trek who could cuss and get away with it. Something that usually couldn't be done back in the 60s.
