Thanks! I think Flower is one of the reasons she's considering becoming a vet.DragonFox98 wrote:Hobie, I love the pic of Flower with your daughter....deer are among the most gentle creatures. And look at her eyes....so tender!

A guy I used to work with years ago went deer hunting every year. He would scout the area 2wks before the season opened up,spotted all kinda game. If he got picked (lottery system) he would get there a day early and set up camp for the week. Did he ever see any deer after that? Nope, they all went on vacation somewhere.felinefan wrote:
Real hunters, in my opinion, only take animals at specific times of the year, only a certain number, obey the laws and minimize what the animal experiences in its last moments. In other words, real hunters are humane.
Beer....The reason I get up every,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,afternoon.

I've heard that same kinda story before. Deer may not be able to read a clock but they've got the calendar down.darph nader wrote:A guy I used to work with years ago went deer hunting every year. Re: A Monster Among Us
Here's the rundown from the vet. Flower has a number of cuts and bruises. All should heal with no problem. The worst injury is the broken front tooth. Deer use their front teeth to take food in and slide it to the rear teeth where they grind it by moving the jaw back and forth.
The gum will eventually grow over the broken tooth and she'll be back in action.
My daughter gave her some sliced apples this morning. She had trouble getting the food in but was eventually able to eat them. Her jaw is probably sore too.
My wife talked to the teacher today. She said she's going to fight for an enhanced security system to be installed. If it's delayed or she gets turned down she'll move Flower to a friend's farm. That's pretty sad as all the kids enjoy having her around.

Re: A Monster Among Us
Flower's loving humans (despite one very bad one) reminds me of the story I saw last night about a lioness in Angola who was the only lion left in a National Park after years of poaching and war.She was so lonely, she decided to bond with the photographers who were documenting her plight
They were charmed but afraid of a "love bite" ;) They eventually shipped in a couple of males to cheer her up.
What good souls animals have despite all the wrong done to them. Let us know what we can do to help, Hobie.

I hope Flower continues with an uneventful and swift recovery. Poor little thing.
I also hope the person who betrayed her trust is identified quickly; sadly the legal ramifications are likely to be insignificant. American justice isn't just.

Please pm me info on how I can help with the vet bills. Paypal is best, but I can mail a money order too.
