Snoopy evicts Nicklodeon & Hanna Barbarra..
...from Canada's Wonderland !

It looks like Wonderland is dropping its long association with the Nicklodeon and Hanna Barbara characters. The theming was always very superficial, so I am sure it wont be much effort to re-theme the kiddie portion of the park. I will miss seeing Scooby Doo and Shaggy walking around though !

Cedar Fair let the licensing agreement run out I believe. Paramount Parks (which owned Canada's Wonderland) had the license with the Nickelodeon and Hanna Barbara characters.
I never understood how the Paramount Parks could have the Nickelodeon characters when Universal had them as well. I guess the territory restrictions are different from the restrictions the Peanuts characters have.
It is easier (from a marketing and merchandising standpoint) this way to have just one character grouping and Snoopy and the Peanuts gang have been very successful at Knott's and the other Cedar Fair parks.
And a Charlie Brown striped T-shirt makes a great souvenir!

The same way that Disney and Universal can have Spiderman now.

Ummm... Actually Disney can't have Spiderman now, at least in Florida. Disney cannot use any of the Marvel characters anywhere in Florida until Marvel's contract with Universal ends.Honda Enoch wrote:The same way that Disney and Universal can have Spiderman now.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

The place has been an eyesore for too long. I know the Winter can play havoc on everything but a little upkeep wouldn't hurt. Hopefully the new owners will put a few bucks into the place and spruce it up.
I'm waiting for the day they sell it to a developer, imagine how many more boring half a million dollar box houses you could put in that parking lot. Just like the ones all around the park.
Any Canadians remember when it was in the middle of nowhere? Back when it was a great place to go.

Yep, the Peanuts crew have taken over our local amusement park, California's Great America, which is also owned by Cedar Fair. Haven't gone there this season, so I don't know how well they have changed things over to feature Charlie Brown and company.

Humm... I am not to sure about that. From what I read, Disney can use the marvel characters as soon as they want. Universal is allowed to use any already in place marvel items but can not create anything new.Shorty82 wrote:Ummm... Actually Disney can't have Spiderman now, at least in Florida. I lived in the general area for my first year of university. It was farms in every direction, except for the 400. I only went for the first time a few years ago however. And even in the short time, development has been pushing closer. It reminds me of the way DL is surrounded by built up areas.Csaks wrote:The place has been an eyesore for too long. But I do like being able to get an AP for about $70.

I used to live on a small hobby farm that bordered the park. We would just walk thru the field and we were right there. Now when I drive thru the area I am just amazed by how much it has built up. I once had some one tell me that the real estate the park is on is worth more than the revenue they could make in 10 years from ticket sales. Rumour was they were going to sell the land and move it to the Niagara Falls area.delsdad wrote:I lived in the general area for my first year of university. It's amazing how the layout of the park looks vaguely familiar.
