So I'm sure a few of us have had fateful moments when a guest relations cast member flashes the ever important "Priority Entrance" pass at you, informing you that they have a "high profile" guest with them... You of course jump for the opportunity to tend to their needs... be it a back door entrance to a ride, or serving them an ice cream cone. How was your encounter?
I had the surprise of taking Brenda Song (Disney Channel Actress) with a few of her girlfriends through the Pirates back door today. Turns out it was her 22nd birthday, and what better way to spend it than at the Magic Kingdom! At first, I didn't realize who she was until she adjusted her aviator sunglasses and I caught a glimpse of her eyes. I struck up a casual conversation as I took her and her friends through the backstage area to the loading area. I chose to leave a conversation about her career at the door, but we discussed tattoos, makeup, and upon asking about her trip, then discovered that today was her birthday. I offered her group a private boat, and they graciously accepted. After getting them on board, I bid them goodbye and then proceeded to geek out after getting backstage.
I was absolutely stunned as this was my first "celebrity encounter" as a cast member, and was more pleased with how I handled myself. She was incredibly sweet, friendly, and very chatty. I would love to see her come back again!

She looks like a sweet girl. My kids and their friends lover her and are devastated to learn that apparently her mom has breast cancer. :( My prayers go to her mom and hope she gets well.
As for celebrity encounters most of the celebrities I have met have been nice only a few have been... well let's leave it there. I have met 2 Spanish celebrities that had no Guest relations with them. Both being recognized by Spanish guest and harassed endlessly, they were extremely nice with the guests but I think they should have been able to enjoy their time with their family. One of them confessed she didn't think she would need an escort, IMHO she did. But it wasn't my call to make.

My best celebrity encounter at work would have to be with Whoopi Goldberg. I first saw her in Candlelight (I was in the CM choir in 2009), and she was really nice. In fact, the show I was in was taped for the View (and I got to be on TV!). Well, a couple of days later I saw her at TSM (that's where I worked at the time). It was really neat seeing her there. I got to hand her group their 3-D glasses, and I had a brief conversation with her. The encounter really made my day.
I also have an encounter as a guest. When my family was down in Feb, we went to the MK one day. Well, my sister ended up spotting Johan Santana (pitcher for the NY Mets) across at the wheelchair location, about to get in the boat behind us. We ended up exiting the ride at the same time. The best part? He spotted my little brother's Mets shirt, and came over to say hi! We had a short chat before we left.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Sounds like more fun than I had telling Spike Lee to sit in the back....ifoundnemo wrote:I had the surprise of taking Brenda Song (Disney Channel Actress) with a few of her girlfriends through the Pirates back door today.

OMG! We LOVE Brenda Song around here! Wendy Wu is like my favorite made for Disney Channel movie and London got me through many episodes of Zach and Cody I was subjected to by my child. Her and the girl who worked in the gift shop (the name is escaping me at the moment, blonde girl, played by Ashley Tisdale) were great together.
That is so cool to know she was so nice. Somehow, she seemed she would be. She was actually in town here for the Autorama a couple weeks ago but we didn't go (we don't generally go to those things) but she would definitely be a cool celebrity to meet.
Hey, that means she and Saint March (he's my husband) have the same birthday! He says "Yay, someone besides Mariah Carey shares my bday!" LOL

Re: Celebrity Encounters... The Good, Bad, and Kick Ass!
My father told me once when Hulk Hogan was staying at the Grand (back when they were filming that show "Thunder in Paradise" on the beach of the grand, that Hogan was the biggest jerk ever. He would walk around his room demanding the staff do things treating them like slaves. One of the housekeeping staff said Hogan was making a "power shake" in a blender without the top on, making a mess all over the place. After which he told the housekeeper "This better be cleaned up by the time I get back." As he walked out the door.
On the other side of the coin. A good encounter my father had was one of Michael Jackson's many visits He was staying at the Grand. MJ was walking down the hall with his body guards and walked past my father. he reached out and patted my father on the shoulder and said "Hey how are you?"

No encounters at WDW, but many years ago Michael J. Fox filmed part of a movie (a clunker called "Light of Day") in my then-hometown in Illinois. My friend's cousin was on the police force so we knew when he was going to do a public greeting (which wasn't officially announced). Thus we were front and center when he came out to greet everyone. I was quite shocked that he's only as tall as me (5'2"). He did one thing that really impressed me though. The area was absolutely packed with people and he walked down the line and shook the hands of everyone who was within reach. One girl was right where he started, and after he shook her hand and greeted her she ran to the end of the line and somehow weasled her way to the front again. He said, "I just saw you down there!" I was shocked that he was actually paying attention to faces vs. just mechanically greeting the fans.
