I thought so, I just want to see what other people have to say about it. That is what my lead told me. Never heard it as an official rule.

GAC is only for the person whose name is on it, only for the park it was issued from and only for that date. Not using your cousin's GAC. No using a GAC for MK at AK. No using a GAC three days later though I did that by accident at DL.

People with a GAC are supposed to wait in line like regular guest to a certain point depending on the attraction.

This is the authoritive guide to GAC and handicapped stuff. There are exceptions made for special cases but that has to be handled at City Hall or its equivalent. Special cases would be a kid with cancer who has 2 hours in the park.

Another excellent guide and better than the above is

According to the Disney site the AstroOrbiter is a mainstream line ride. This means guests must enter and wait in the normal line. Not sure if a GAC would bypass that line but it is not supposed to.

Sorry Churchy, but at WDW the GAC is good for the disabled guest plus the number of guests with them (but normally not for more than a total of six people).

It is valid for all four parks (we don't do anything special at the water parks because of the way they are set up) and it is valid for the person's length of stay.I have also seen them given out for periods as long as six months, but that basically is for a Florida Resident and where the need will not vanish (such as an autistic kid).

There are certain stamps which will allow the Guest to use fastpass lines, even without a fastpass. These are not handed out too often.

Basically there is once card and Guest Relations will use one or more rubber stampings on the card to indicate what the special treatments are.

I won't go into much detail here, as Sue (the other disABILTIES Forum moderator) and I try to avoid specifics about GACs on the board.

BTW, someone recently had a GAC for sale on eBay for a $400 minimum bid. We had lots of people contacting eBay and/or Disney about it and the auction was pulled.

i was trained that depending on the GAC that certain stamps will enable the guests to go through the exit of Astro orbitor like the arrows and stop light. Nothing else. All others have to go through the normal queue.

I meant the GAC was only for the person issued and that the person could bring along other people. A GAC cannot be gotten for Aunt Jane and then given to Cousin Billy to use while she is napping in the hotel. Some people will take a GAC from a family member and use it even if the person issued the GAC is not present.

I guess they changed the 4 parks as when I went I had to get one at each park but it has been a while.

I was waiting in line for the Matterhorn when a family of 5 came up with a GAC, waving it like it in people's faces. The CM read it, asked where <name> was, they said "over there" and he let them on after the rest of us boarded. My wife and I were walking away after I rode and saw the the GAC 5 and no one else with them. We also saw a group of teenagers at the same time, one was in a wheelchair. Later in the day we saw the same group but someone else suddenly had a disability and was riding in the chair. I don't know if I could put up with it as a CM.

The other thing of course is to actually *read* the GAC. Some will be out of date, once I caught a blank one, and one family had a "use stroller as wheelchair" card, but no stroller or kid! :bawl:
Normally I agree with anything to route out fakers, but as I once had to be confined to a wheelchair after a fairly extencive knee surgery. When I was dragged through the parks with my family (toward the end of my recovery but still not 100%), I would sometimes get out of the chair and push it while my younger cousin would ride. I was questioned about this only once by a CM, and I was more than happy to open the side of my pants to reviel the heavy leg beace that ran from mid thigh to ankle.
My Mother could not understand this, but I did.

Last year my sister and I went on Pirates of the Caribbean. We waited 30 minutes in line. When we were about to get into the boat a bunch of jr high kids came running from a wheel chair and jumped into the boat. I seriously saw no injuries on them. It made us mad. After we got off the boat, we followed them. I waited for my sister and she got security. Security followed them and kicked them out of the park. If you are caught doing a stupid stunt like this, considered yourself not gifted.
