Thanks Kman! This helps familiarize me with property. Reads as the bus driver was most injured. Prayers for all involved.ktulu wrote:http://www.wesh.com/news/22921301/detail.html

Yeah, based on what I've read, the Disney bus hit the other bus. That driver was airlifted to the hospital. Definitely praying for everyone.Main Streeter wrote:Thanks Kman! This helps familiarize me with property. Reads as the bus driver was most injured. Prayers for all involved.

Field reporter: "...you can see the Mears bus is on it's side"ktulu wrote:http://www.wesh.com/news/22921301/detail.html
Then, continues about the Disney bus "...and the front end appears to be torn off..." (her emphasis)
NO!...it isn't.
NO!... that's the busted windshield which is now lying on the ground.
They (the media outlets/journalists) are either just plain stupid... or, they're just making up stuff now.
Or option C...they're both.
Now, on to actual facts...If the tour bus was empty (including the driver) then there's more to this story. I have a feeling you won't hear anything but "Disney, Disney, Disney...." in any follow-up reports, though.

Re: Two tour buses collide at WDW...
Current reports state that the MEARS Magical Express bus was stopped and parked about 100 yrds from the toll plaza in the right hand lane ( bus only lane ) with the driver out side of the bus. The Disney bus was traveling in the same lane ( any further from here is conjecture until official statements can be gathered from passengers and eyewitnesses )
The driver was extricated from the bus 15 mins after the arrival of the RCFD Heavy Rescue and Engine. From my past experience as a Fire Fighter and an EMT, I can tell you with almost certainty that the Disney driver had to be stabilized medically and then shielded from the extrication units before they could move him. Most of the accidents that I have worked in the past that involved this much time was usually a CODE RED trauma alert.
Being a medic and a fire fighter can give to much personal insight in to an accident…. I will not conjecture any further until the reports are out or Disney files a statement.

Oh I guess I should describe the trauma alerts to you
CODE GREEN = Walking Wounded, Transport to facility, send to waiting area (We called them taxi rides)
CODE YELLOW = Serious injury to patient, mechanics of injury are sever, usually back boarded and collared.
CODE RED = Injury to person that could be or is life threatening, injuries to head, spine, or major organ. Usually cardiac arrhythmias or cardiac arrest are possible.
CODE BLACK = Patient is DOA, or Time of Death has been called by a ER Doctor while enroute to medical facility.

Re: Two tour buses collide at WDW...
My thoughts on this:
Glad to hear that it appears that the injuries are of the non-life-threatening kind. Of course, never good to hear about an accident.
Been almost a year since they had an bus accident of note? Not too bad a track record, considering the amount of business they probably do.
Why bring up the monorail accident again, and why mention that Disney denied any fault? Smacks a bit of muck-raking to me.

The Disney Bus Driver has/had at the time life threatning injuries...
