Thank you, thank you, thank you

I have read so many stories about SG's being very rude to Cast Members that go above and beyond their jobs. With heartfelt thanks, I want to say how appreciative I am of you all.

About 7 years ago, when my youngest son was 10, we vacationed at Walt Disney World. One evening it poured buckets, so we used our ponchos and umbrellas and still enjoyed our time at the Magic Kingdom.

As we were walking out for the evening, my little one was telling us how his toes were wet inside his sneakers. So we stopped off at the Emporium to check it out. Somehow the water found it's way all the way through both. I took them off and I picked him up to carry him the rest of the way to the car when I noticed a Cast Member watching us.

She walked over to us & kindly asked us what had happened. Once we told her, she insisted that they would like to pay for a new pair of sneakers since it happened while we were visiting the park. I thanked her and told her that wasn't necessary. She kept on insisting and saw that I wasn't about to let them pay new sneakers.

The sweetheart that she was grabbed my son's sneakers from my hand and checked his size. She walked over to the kids sneakers, picked them out, rang them up, cut off the tags & handed them to my son and asked him if he knew how to ties his laces!

We were so amazed at her kindness and how clever she went about doing it! We thanked her a 100 times and headed straight to Guest Relations. I gave them her name & hoped that they would recognize her going above and beyond her job and reward her somehow. I asked if they would, and of course they wouldn't say.

I just wanted to share a kind story to you all. Unfortunately many guests think they are entitled to special treatment because they are paying for a vacation. I
love when people make my job a pleasure.

So.....thank you, thank you , thank you for making all my visits to Walt Disney World a pleasure!

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Welcome to SGT! I'm sure the Marsupial Welcoming Committee will be by shortly to "initiate" you :)

Even though I'm not a CM, I definitely understand when you say how SGs treat people who go above and beyond for them. I've experienced it myself in a service-oriented business (retail). With some people, you can do the littlest thing for them and they will love you forever, like you just made a friend for life. With SGs, you can do everything short of sanding their porches or putting a topcoat on their driveways, and they will tell you that your customer service is terrible.

I'm glad that you took the time to thank the CMs in general. Thank you for contributing!

I think what I do qualifies more as an 'initiation' then the marsupials, but whatever.

GreenEyes0205, I would like to offer you a warm* welcome to the location that is SGT.

*warm in this instance means hot**, incredibly hot
**hot in this instance means that you are now actually on fire, we apologize for any inconvenience

lol......thank you for the welcome. I've been a lurker for a couple of years & have enjoyed reading all the threads. Walt Disney World has given my children & I such warm memories to last a lifetime.

ROFL Lasolimu!!!

I'm not a marsupial but I'd like to say anyway "welcome GreenEyes"! Very sweet story, thank you for telling it to us.

I love those kinds of stories. Especially the ones that happened years ago. I'm sure the CMs appreciate knowing too that long after they've made that magic, it lives on in us.

Those of us who really appreciate it never, ever forget it- your post proves that once again. Good stuff.

Hi GreenEyes. Now that a Marsupial has welcomed you, let's spiel about safety.
-----------------------------------
Please keep your hands and legs inside the ride vehicle at all times.
Your ride vehicle (thread) may suddenly change direction without warning.
If your ride vehicle does change direction it is quite possibly never coming back to its original course.
This is normal and is no cause for alarm.

Thank you for riding SGT and have a stupidity free day.

Heres a bit of magic that did not involve any individual cast member, but the company management at some level.

In 1980 my family made our first visit to Florida, staying at my uncles condo at Popano Beach. Dad could afford to take us to WDW for 1 day, with an overnight before and after at a Days inn, for about 25$ a night. The exchange rate was not to favorable to us Canadian at the time, I believe. We arrived in Florida in late January to billboards everywhere that said "Thank You Canada!"

It was a day or two after the Canadian Ambassador to Iran had smuggled several US diplomats out of Iran. the entire state seemed to have Thank You specials. We arrived at the TTC in early February, expecting to need to buy a book of tickets fro each of us. And we discovered that a special two day passport just for Canadians had been introduced as a thank you for Canadians only. It was fairly cheap too, so our 1 day at MK turned into 2 on the spot. And we now had access to unlimited rides, no coupons required. Plus we got a cool special passport with a Canadian flag on it that drew VIP treatment form both cast members and American guests alike.

It was obvious that this was thrown together fairly quickly in response to the hostage rescue. The passport was on lightweight cardboard, not laminated, and just used a date stamp to cancel out the used days. But boy did it make us feel that Walt Disney World appreciated us being there. I know that not long after they switched to include rides with admission, but this gift of unlimited rides and essentially a second day free really made our visit magical. Someone in an office made a decision that really made magic for my brother and I .
