Blood Alley takes another victim

Post by Zazu » Tue Mar 16, 2010 12:39 am

Disney Cast Member Struck By Ride Vehicle

A Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland Speedway CM was hit by one of the cars. Broken leg, helicopter transport. Something doesn't add up, but I can't find more data. Anyone?

Hope the CM will be alright!

In other news, when I saw the topic name, I thought of a local highway. Then, not only did I find out that this had nothing to do with that highway, I also discovered that the nickname "Blood Alley" apparently is associated with an entirely different highway! Darn....

What was the employee doing on the track in the first place? I think at the minimum they are going to be re-trained on safety procedures. Some people can get cocky and think becuase they've either been on a ride for a long time, they can get away with bending the rules. Or they're young and think they can get away with it, just because of their "It won't happen to me" attitude. Or they thought they could judge when they could cross the track safely and thus wouldn't get hit. It's like these people who cross against the light--they think they can get away with jaywalking, but if a cop catches them, they get a ticket. Worst case scenario, they get hit by a car. I remember one night I was coming home from somewhere, and this was in North Hollywood 25-30 years ago, and there were emergency crews at this one part of the street. Somebody had been grocery shopping at a nearby Gemco (now a Target), had tried to get across the street in the middle instead of at the crosswalk, at night while wearing dark clothes. He was hit by a car, groceries all splattered in the street, and some young woman was kneeling over him, evidently his wife or other relative. Had he crossed at the corner, worn light colored clothes, and crossed with the signal, he wouldn't have been hit. I don't know if he made it or not. My bus passed right next to the scene, and he didn't appear to be moving. The woman seemed to be crying over him. It was very sad, but the fact is, if you take risks like that, sooner or later they will catch up to you.

Since this is a social network and there is an on going investigation, no comment per Company policy.
