Where have I been? Where have YOU been?

Post by February » Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:02 pm

Hey! I miss you people!

Seriously.

So give me a shout here and tell me what you've been up to in 2010 so far.

I hope your year so far has been more fun than mine. I've been working on trying to just get and stay anything akin to healthy. After the Great Retina Debacle of 12/09 in January I had (ignore the space here gents, ladies, you can mouse over if you want to read I hope I'm hiding the text right!) a ruptured ovarian cyst and then a couple weeks ago I got REALLY sick and didn't know why and after doctors visits and more it turns out it was dentistry gone wrong- a 2+ year old root canal that had been crowned still had one whole root left in it all this time...yeah. bad.

I got the whole thing redone last week and swelled up like a balloon but the colors I turned weren't nearly as pretty. I'm still black and blue and on mushy foods (a step up from chicken broth) with more work to get it finished up but they said it'll take weeks to get over the infection which I have to do first. I just can't seem to stay awake for long I keep conking out (and I'm not even taking anything that should make me sleepy).

The scary part is that the infection was so hidden that until my face swelled up I didn't know it was there (thought the pain was from migraine- so please be warned! Consider me a cautionary tale and if you have any question about dental work you've had done please have another dentist check it!) This has likely been sapping my health for a long time and I can't even think what it may have done to my eyes if it had moved up just a little more before the oral surgeon finally found it and intervened.

He used microscope glasses and something 'ultrasonic' to find where he needed to work (what that 'work' was is too icky to get into) But hearing the noise the thing made I was put in mind of Doctor Who's sonic screwdriver cause that's just the way my mind works.

In some happy news my kid rode in her first ever local horse show and won a couple ribbons (including a blue one on her first ride) the thing that made me happy though was that she had a good time.

So tell me what have you been up to, the good and the bad the first 3 months of this year! I wanna know and I'm too tired to email everybody.
Stand and be counted!

And at this time I just have to throw in a random "Thanks, Delsdad!" He knows what for and he totally rocks. That's all I'm sayin.

Hope that these days are finding you happy and in good shape. even when I'm not around I think of you all, every day.

xoxo
bru

Wow! When it rains it pours. I hope you're on the mend from all of your ills.

Here's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I was asked to take over as treasurer for the Lahaina Yacht Club. Once I saw the books it all came clear as to why. I got all the messes cleaned up and busted a few people for being way over due in paying their bills.

We put on a week of sailing for a group of kids from a local school. It all went very well except for me slipping while hauling a boat down some stairs. The swelling in my foot is almost gone.

My wife's little hobby seaglass jewelry business has exploded. She now has six stores in the islands and one in Park City, Utah that sell her stuff. That keeps her pretty busy collecting glass and designing pieces. Here's one of her pieces.

The dogs are just as loopy as ever.

My daughter has pretty much decided she wants to go to Nebraska for college. Is she in for a chilly surprise.

She does some pretty cool work.

I'm almost limp free. Should be fine by the end of the week.

I suspect we'll spend a slug of money on warm clothes. I'm thinking of having her watch Fargo so she'll have an idea of what's she is getting herself into.

Let's see, I got some scales and fashioned them into a tail and have been sewing all in between work and World of Warcraft. I know, my life is just so exciting.

Hey Bru! Glad to see you again (miss having you around). And that's awsome news about your daughter. :)

Not much is new with me. I started at my new work location in Jan. I now work at GMR, and I'm loving it.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Hey Bru!!! Thanks for the update!

The Wombat household has enjoyed a real winter for a change with near-record snowfall for the DFW area. We're all staying active in school, church, work, singing groups, sports, or various combinations thereof.

Oh, and my younger son turned 13 today -- I now have two teenagers in the house!
