a new site
peopleofthepark.com
Not sure if this website is a good or bad development. On the plus side, it profiles stupid clothing choices. On the down side, some of the photos might be of people with legitimate mental problems. On the weird side, there's an assortment of hate mail which appears to include a high school girl pretending to be a lawyer and her younger brother trying to ride to her rescue with his potty mouth.

For the most part, it's funny as heck. The pedophile Peter Pan, pink unitard girl, the over grown Belle, etc. Yeah - CRAZY!!!!!
However, some pics are trying a little hard for a laugh. The world of color track suit collage, the My Girl kid in a jumper, the real Housewife. If ya gotta look at it for more than about a minute to figure out if something is off the wall - then it does not seem to be that funny.
Great concept in all - but really take time to find REAL targets.

I think this sums up my thoughts quite nicely. I think it just needs a little bit of time to get off the ground and really start getting the shocking pictures. Overall, most of the pictures right now I wouldn't give a second glance if I saw the person in public simply because they fall into the category of extreme fashion nitpickery such as never wearing white after labor day which I just don't care about.Sarah Magdalene wrote:For the most part, it's funny as heck. Ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised to find myself on there in the future because of my tail, but I would hope that at some point that would be considered a tame image compared to the majority of the stuff that's there.

Re: a new site
I'll join in with the "interesting idea, poor execution" group. There are definitely some that are very poor decisions that stretch the bounds of good taste and/or modesty. However, there are a good number of others that, if those clothes were worn elsewhere would be out of place, at a Disney park are just part of losing oneself in the magic. For example, one picture showed a family where the mother and daughter had skirts, and the dad and I believe the baby had vests, all made from the same material which had Disney character faces on it. If they wore those to, say, go shopping, it might seems silly, but would be quite appropriate for a family vacation to Disneyland or WDW.

Re: a new site
One of the delights of going to the Park is the people-watching- but being amused at Poor Fashion Choices is waaaaay different that making fun of someone's physical problems, I personally think that should be off-limits.
Kids should probably be off limits, too, even if they block out the faces- Too many instances of kids becoming distraught about something posted on the internet, then taking it out on themselves.
I probably won't check out the site again.
Besides, I think I've already seen everything, going as often as I do.

I've recently returned to this site, and although I did get a laugh from a few things, I have to say that in general this site is way too mean-spirited for my taste.

...And by "this site" I obviously mean the "people of the parks" website, just in case there was any confusion. ;)Disneyguy85 wrote:I've recently returned to this site, and although I did get a laugh from a few things, I have to say that in general this site is way too mean-spirited for my taste.

And here I thought you were referring to THIS site as being full of mean spirited people. :p:Disneyguy85 wrote:...And by "this site" I obviously mean the "people of the parks" website, just in case there was any confusion. ;)

I will never understand why people have issues with Otherkin. Closed minded nitwits.Lasolimu wrote:Ultimately, I wouldn't be surprised to find myself on there in the future because of my tail, but I would hope that at some point that would be considered a tame image compared to the majority of the stuff that's there.
