Lady Bonita causes mischeif again at the DLH

Post by GuestJockey » Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:47 pm

Disneyland Hotel Fire

Looks like "Lady Bonita" is at it again. I don't blame her; she's not the only one who's upset that they're taking down the looking glass elevator on the Dreams Tower (formerly known as the Sierra Tower). Just wait until she finds out that they're gutting her suite in the Magic/Marina Tower.

Thank you GuestJockey! We just parked in DTD when 8 hook & ladder fire trucks, a few paramedics & many APD past with sirens on. We wondered what was up. Went to an anniversary party @ DL then shopped. I totally forgot to ask anyone what happened, yet none inside DL would have heard sirens or been informed. Appreciate the post. :)

Wasn't Bonita the former name of one of the towers? Maybe Lady Bonita is a ghost. ;)

Ding ding ding! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Bonita Granville was the wife of Jack Wrather, original owner of the DLH. Recently after TWDC bought the hotel, the three main towers, Marina, Sierra and Bonita, were renamed Magic, Dreams and Wonder, and Granville's Steakhouse became Steakhouse 55. Lady Bonita seems to be none-too-happy about the changes to her namesakes, since she's been known to turn lights and clocks on and off in all three towers. Someone told me they've heard people who claim to have seen her wandering the hall outside the Mickey Mouse Penthouse, but I don't trust the source on that too well (not that I've decided if I believe ANY of this, but hey.)

By the way, when they changed the names of the towers, we came up with a trick to remember which was what. Magic tower used to be Marina tower, which houses the Main lobby. Dreams tower is the home of the year of a million Dreams Penthouse, and has all the dreamy stars on the top. Wonder tower has the Waterfalls out front, and you wonder why you're so far away from the main lobby.

Well, I agree that we wouldn't have been informed, and we might not have known what the sirens were for, but I remember being able to hear sirens all the time when I worked at Finding Nemo. Always brought on the "Speeding in Autopia" jokes.

Sadly, the park's not as insulated as one might think. :(

I've heard sirens from within the parks over here a number of times, and we are a LOT more insulated from the surrounding world than y'all are. I'm sure all of the sirens I've heard were ambulances and fire engines from Reedy Creek responding to medical calls around property.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

I could have used this info when I was planning a trip to DL a couple years ago. I had a hard time remembering the names of the towers and would get them mixed up. Finally got smart and made a reservation at Grand Californian. :D:

P.S. Still waitin' for my chicken dinner, GuestJockey. :D:
