Main Streeter wrote:Yes there is a Mt. Baldy! Ca. history is a passion with me. I know, very boooring to most. :o: Mt. Baldy, aka Old Baldy - named because there are few trees. Elevation is 10,068 ft. & the highest peak in San Gabriel Mountains as well as the highest point in L A Co. It's parent peak is San Gorgonio. Mt. Baldy is in Los Angeles & San Bernardino Counties. The proper name for Mt. Baldy is Mount San Antonio. Mt. San Antonio was named by or for Don Jose Antonio Yorba, so old family lore is written. Mt. San Antonio looked down on the first & only Spanish Landgrant (65,512 acres) in Orange Co. which was given to Yorba by the King of Spain July 1, 1810. The large Yorba Famly adobe home was named Rancho San Antonio. San Antonio was the Patron Saint of the Yorba Family. We still retain some Yorba artifacts at the ranch. DL was originally within the Yorba grant. This is your Valentine gift trivia darph.
Thank you, Main Streeter! I've lived in CA all my life and never knew that Mt. Baldy and Mt. San Antonio were one and the same! So that's where Mt. SAC (Mt. San Antonio College) got its name. Mt. Baldy College would sound really weird. I went skiing at Mt. Baldy once, in the 70's. I don't even know if they still have skiing there.

A quick check on Google reveals that yes, they do still have skiing at Mt. Baldy! Also snowboarding and snowtubing. Let's go!

Beat me to it.

As long as you don't eat it, what's the problem?
