What, pray tell, is wrong with a Monorail ride?
So yesterday, I was working at AK and received a TTC run. As I exit the doors of the bus, I make an announcement: "This is the bus/motor coach to the Transportation and Ticket Center: the Gateway to the Magic Kingdom, as well as the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot and Magic Kingdom Resorts. I will explain it all once we are under way." Most people think a second, digest what I just said and get on the bus. Not one guy. With wife and three kids in tote, he cut ahead of the line, asked me the question, "Is this the bus to the Magic Kingdom?" I responded with my announcement again (this time quietly, to him), so he did the news media reporter trick: Asked the question a different way: "But you go to the Magic Kingdom after the TTC, right?" "No, sir, from there you take a five-minute monorail ride or seven-minute Staten-Island Ferry ride. This is your best way to get to the Magic Kingdom." "So you don't go directly to the Magic Kingdom?" "No, sir. Once everyone's on board and we're under way, I'll explain it all fully." At that point, he saw the Studios bus pulling into the load zone behind me, and stormed off to that bus. I wonder what his first question to that bus driver was.
"Do you go to the Magic Kingdom?"
"Do you go to the Magic Kingdom?"
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I would have told him "yes, this bus converts into a submarine and will take you directly to the front gates of the Magic Kingdom" and just let him figure it out later.

I would have told him "yes, once we reach the TTC this bus converts into a submarine and will take you directly to the front gates of the Magic Kingdom or if you prefer to be over the water you could take the ferry boat and if you want to avoid the water all together may I suggest the Monorail" and just let him figure it out later.

How rude to not let them know where you would be going. I bet you yelled at them and then handed your cell phone to your mother to mock them.

You should have announced "(besides your regular spliel) Mr. SG,This bus 'DOES NOT GO TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM',Mr. SG. If you want to go to the Magic Kingdom,Mr.SG, 'you' must exit NOW"
(btw,if you ever see some homeless guy with a 'ugly' cooler. Please do stop by and give him a ride.) ;)

Come on BW, I thought that you were trained better than that.
The answer to the question "Does this bus go to the Magic Kingdom?" is
No sir, you must go to a resort and transfer to a bus marked Magic Kingdom.

Yell at them? Always! It's in my act. But I don't keep a cellular with me at all onstage, for just such an occasion. However, I did pull my Nextel off the cradle (after cutting the metal strap) and hand it to my mom.ICStupidPeople wrote:How rude to not let them know where you would be going. But I like being confusing on the TTC runs. And on the TTC runs, they don't have to transfer at a resort, but perhaps it would have been easier with this particular gentleman. I use the term "gentleman" loosely.cranbiz wrote:Come on BW, I thought that you were trained better than that.

What is this training of which you speak?

I was trying to interject some humor.
And yes, I know that he does not have to transfer to a resort if going on the TTC bus.
The training that I spoke of is that OJT that we all get after dealing with too many SG's.
In this case, your correct explaintion to the SG was going nowhere. Now it's time for another explaination. Possibly the one that he will accept. While it's not his best option (getting on your bus was his best option) and could be considered meanspirited by some, it would have ultimately got him to the Magic Kingdom.

I would have said that in order to get to MK, he would have to swim, but that's just me.
Better yet, "One of the 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea submarines will provide you with transportation to the Magic Kingdom."

Cranbiz, I would have thought by now that you, of all people, would know that I have no idea what humor is.Cranbiz wrote:I was trying to interject some humor.
The scary thing is that I know where to find one. So, let's meet up tomorrow night at Epcot, and you guys help me carry it out to TTC. I don't know if there is any water access from World Showcase to Seven Seas, or how to navigate the waterways, so we'll throw the sub on the top of a bus, drive it over to TTC and then let it relive its glory days in the Seven Seas...Lagoon.leftcoaster wrote:Better yet, "One of the 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea submarines will provide you with transportation to the Magic Kingdom."
I understand the subs run on a track, so let's find the track for the ferry, and we'll put it on there. What? The ferry is actually free-floating? Well, yeah, I've heard them say it, but I didn't think they were being serious! I thought the guy in the pilot house was just there for show.
