Okay, I think that's enough. If you want to take this fight somewhere else, then continue it there. But please, not on the site I consider to be my front porch. While we do say over-the-top things here, the intent of nastiness that I have seen in the previous posts are not what I am here for. I don't enjoy watching these personal attacks.
I, for one, am not going to call LucyStorm a SG, as she hasn't earned that title from me. If you look at her first post at Dis, or any post after that, she is never uncivil. While some of the responses she received make me laugh, nothing she said was outlandish. The first time she was downright nasty was here.
I've been on my way to clock in, and I have actually seen drivers going down the road with a cellular phone to their ear. And no, I don't mean the Nextel. I've also met drivers past whom I would not put yelling at someone.
LucyStorm at DIS wrote:And then before Wishes I was trying to get to the popcorn stand and a cast member yelled at me "Lady, you will never get out of this park going in that direction". No I won't, you moron, because I wasn't trying to get out of the park.
That is part of LucyStorm's first post. I have one thing to point out from a Cast member perspective (and if all the other CM's could either back me up or fillet me on this, I would appreciate it), and another to point out as the grammar freak that I am.
If this Cast member has just dealt with 50 guests going toward Fantasyland to leave, if they then assume that Lucy was doing the same thing, then I can see where they would want to tell her to turn around, and they might have shouted as that is what they have been doing for an hour to be heard]moron[/i] at someone who was trying to give me information I didn't need, especially when I was tired. Now, had she said it to the cast member, my first reaction would have been to reach through the computer and slap her silly, but she didn't. Thinking something is quite different than saying it. One of my favorite quotes, and I can't remember the author: I can't keep the birds from flying around my head, but I can keep them from building a nest there!"
This post is not to defend LucyStorm. I don't like the fact of her coming over here to call out ICStupidPeople, just as I don't really agree with people here going over there to comment based on what was said here. The only thing I say in her defense about that is that she is not the first offender.
As I said to LucyStorm in a PM (at Dis), we handle things here with a sense of humor, and those who deal with anger instead don't last long here. I think that's what disturbs me about parts of this thread... that if there is humor at some points, it is very difficult to read into the text of what is said.
If this is the result, I would rather people not bring any info at all from other message boards. I enjoy the banter we have here. But the ugliness I've seen, be it in taking someone's words out of context or all-out fighting, just turns me off.
Again, if you want to have a fight, then that is your right. That's the beauty of the society in which we live. But take it off our porch, and then come back when it's all over.
In my mind, all sides are in the wrong. If we had kept our conversation to ourselves, this mess would not be what it is now. Heck, someone at the other site might have still picked it up and broadcast it, but it would be on them, not us. Just as most of what we say here never gets put out on Dis or the other boards, this shouldn't have been, either.
So please, when we comment on things we see elsewhere, could we keep it to ourselves in the future? We understand each other and the group sense of humor, but to bring others in who do not find this place on their own, alone, just brings unnecessary strife and headache.
Thank you for listening. Good night.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
