Post by Doctor McKey » Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:24 pm

Just saw this on the local news....

Cypress Gardens will be bought by the owners of legoland and transform it into a legoland Florida. THIS IS HUGE!!!!

Disney will have some real competition...

Interesting, they seem to be making some ground.

There was an article in the San Diego onion about them getting permission to build a big hotel near the park, and put in a water park. SO I guess they are expanding block by block.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cypress Gardens should be marked as a Historical Landmark.

It's Florida's FIRST Theme Park

And if you think that traffic at WDW is bad, you should see the West end of Winter Haven, especially on a summer weekend now. Wait until LL goes in; those are city streets with businesses, not expressways.

That won't last long, they will have an expressway in there in no time.

I'd suggest looking at a map. Or go to a mapping program and select the route from 4600 N World Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830 to Cypress Gardens, Roosevelt Dr, Winter Haven, FL 33884 and look at the area around the destination. That will take you from the Contemporary to CG. MapQuest says it is 39 miles and 49 minutes, but I know the area. Where I live is actually closer to Winter Haven than to WDW. There is a lot more need for an expressway or road improvements in Polk County than CR 540.
