In all probability, I'm going to end up getting banned (or at least heavily thrashed) for my post in that thread. It would be a shame, because most people are great people (especially the Admins/mods), but there are a few who think they are better than others... they wouldn't even THINK of not staying in Concierge Level, you know.

You all talk about supposed cliques over there but I haven't noticed any, at least not in all the threads I've looked at, which is a lot.

It depends on which board you're looking at there, they exist. I'm not one to argue about it, either you get it or you don't.

All I can say is wow and huh? I'v been a lucker on both these boards for a couple of years now but felt I had to respond. I just read these two threads kind of at the same time(two windows open) It amazes me how people want perfect service all the time without recongnizing that CMs are human (especially on that board). I work at a Renaissance faire in the fall and know how hard it is to keep my happy face on sometimes when dealing with people. I really enjoy my trips to Disney because I have worked the other and can apprecatiate how hard it is. I have encounter grumpy CMs but try not to let it bug me I also try to go out of my way to let you guys know when you made my day. I have sent letters and gone to guest services to write about good service cause I know that people tend to only write when they had a bad time. I am also glad that you guys have a safe place to vent. Keep up the good work.

Wow, that thread is so dumb...

I wouldn't worry too much about them flaming you, its their natural defense when people make valid arguments and they cannot formulate some sort of counterpoint. They all gang up and give each other high fives and stuff. I don't look at the community board over there for that reason, too many robots like that. I do like the rumors board as they are good for a laugh, and relatively you know who's going to be a pain in the butt there; but it is also civil. The photo board is full of nice people too. I guess that means the robots are not smart enough to operate a camera?

Venting was one thing in that thread, another was the "Disney cast members are getting worse" that got out of hand... I love how the OP decided these incidents were then worth reporting after other people told them to do it. LOL. Then mysteriously someone that could be a manager appeared and asked for a private message of the description of the cast member... then what was the logic of the rest of the thread, "oh yeah that guy that asked for a PM had to be a manager!" so silly, could have just as easily have been a stalker!!! Oh well, another reason why not to go to board x unless you brought enough aspirin to tame a whale.

There are definitely nice people on all boards, but I just could not handle the CM bashing that got underway...So I took a dive. I will now only lurk (and not under my rock :hysteria: ). I agree there is SOME good info there, but I won't be asking for it, just do a search for it. And you can bet I won't be wearing my Lime Green Mickey Head Paint chips on my backpack or anywhere for that matter! For those of you who don't know what that is, It is a recognition thing for all people on that board to get those Paint chip thingys in the shape of Mickey's Head (there is a line of Disney Paint products) at Home Depot in Lime Green so they all know that they are from the same board. They make tags out them and wear the tags on their person at the Parks. It is a cool way for all the posters to know they are meeting up with other posters from the same board! And it is a great way to meet people from cyberspace you might have chatted with on the threads! It is kind of a cool thing to meet up with other posters from your home board!
I would rather wear my SGT t-shirt that I bought here and WEAR IT PROUDLY!!! It is a symbol of my NOT being a SG! Or at least trying my hardest not to be... :sparky: And I would love to meet up with some of the greatest people I have met right here on my home board, even tho I am a guest, not a CM. But who knows, maybe someday we will work PT at The World when the house finally sells, (damn slow real estate market, mumble grumble, nothing is selling, :donald2: mumble, grumble...) we will give it a try at WDW, that is where we want to move to, Windermere, Kissimmee or around there! And I want to meet all of you who work there! I really want to be on the bus with Big Wall and Cranbiz, and not the short bus either.
I love my t-shirt, always get comments on it when I wear it and have even turned some cool CMs (these are people I have known for quite a while, NOT MANAGERS!) onto the site! I know my CM friends are out there lurking and laughing! They will post one of these days! :p:
Have a safe and fun fourth everyone! Wish I could be lounging by the pool at the Yacht Club right now or playing in the Parks! Denver just ain't WDW or D-Land! That is an understatement!

(Oh and NOT everyone who goes concierge all the time is a SG, we do it because we can and we like the service. It is nice to have the little extras on a vacation! We love the CMs and go out of our way to help them out and be courteous and compassionate. We treat the CMs better than we treat our own families! After all, most of them are a lot nicer and have better teeth! :hysteria: )

Just went over to view that thread...sheeeeesh!!!!! Why must people take things so personally? Have they nothing else to worry about in their lives?

When my friends and I pop over to the parks (usually just for a couple of hours in the morning, especially at this time of the year), if we run into a CM whose attitude is a bit less than pixie-dusted we just chuckle to ourselves and imagine the SG antics that probably got them into that frame of mind. Can't people have a little empathy? I think every SG who complains about a CM should be chained out in the middle of July to work all the way through MK Extra Magic Hours (and can we throw in a few Brazilian tour groups and a cheerleader conference to really make their work day special?).

I know enough CMs to know what you guys go through, and it drives me crazy when guests come out with such stupid complaints.

Gotta love that SG statement....."I'd look daggers at any CM that spoke to me in that tone."

What can I say but....."I'll see your daggers look and raise 'ya an AK-47 look.
And the reason I'm texting? I have 70 people on my group list and theyr'e all
reading a description of you. Get ready for some EXTRA magic today."

:duh:

If you ever stop and ask yourself: "How do they dress themselves?"
Congratulations and welcome to my world.

LOLOL!! My bad! My apologies for my lack of marsupial identifying skills.

Let me apologize to all CM's for the uproar my original post seemed to cause. I only linked to that thread because I found it quite amusing that she called someone a moron in her 1st post, then backpeddled for the remainder of her responses. Once the person insinuating they were a supervisor asked for more info, I was laughing too hard not to share. I would LOVE to see the lawsuit filed against a supervisor for writing someone up based on something they heard on the internet. The comic factor in the thread was lost on some on there I guess...lol.

In addition, my "common sense o' meter" was going nuts when I examined the "evidence" presented by the SG in question. "I was at Disney for all of these days, ALL the cm's were great except for one day when it was super hot and I was at MK and then for NO reason, three different CM's were rude to me for NO reason. It's NOT me, it's THEM". Does the explanation that maybe her perception was a bit off that day escape her? I labeled her an SG for that reason. If you never experience this, then in one day it happens THREE times, um, maybe it's you????

Anywho....once again, thanks CM's for all of the great work you do. I just figure that the problem with the gene pool is that many people got in there while the lifeguard wasn't watching. My only saving grace is that they don't pay enough attention to their children to allow too many more generations of useless humans to ruin the great parks.

When you wander onto most so-called Disney fan boards, be prepared for the same results as what happened to the kids lost on the islands in "Lord of the Flies." Dare ye not say something positive about Disney or negative about one of the detractors, or they'll feed off your bones. I used to sneak in and skim for the few good ideas regarding park touring, but it's no longer worth the trouble and negativity. Last time I checked LaughingPlace.com, my usual sense of awe...as is , "Aw, why did they have to go and say that? It's uncalled for!" flipped to sheer pity for the truly pathetic among them. One of those whose posts most resemble diarrhea--they never stop, it's very painful, and always stink--actually sat by his TV on Christmas day blogging a multiple-post float-by-float hateful screed about how awful the WDW parade was. I wanted to drop him a note and remind him that it's always his choice...and if his choice was to demonstrate that he had no one with whom to be on Christmas and needed to project his self-loathing...but then I remembered a) that wouldn't be nice and b) he wouldn't get it, anyway.
So I signed off those chats for good and stick with this (for fun and compliments) and when I go to WDW nothing beats this board, Deb's, Mouseplanet and Disney's own website for planning another excellent vacation.
But I will admit...I had found an interesting blog recently...a nugget or two of useful information surrounded by vitriol. I chimed in on 3 threads over 2 days, a single comment each with information contrary to the negativity and asking if the blogmaster might be grinding an ax...and when I went on a third day noticed my comments were banned. Well, I found the contact e-mail and wrote a friendly-enough letter that did end with this point: "During a recent search I came across The Disney Blog. Occasionally well-written pieces, but there was always that same undertone of dissatisfaction. It still amazes me that so few people who dislike Disney so much would invest so much time and effort to revisit the parks just to tell us how awful they are. Then as I poked around the site I discovered it was just an offshoot of LaughingPlace.com. Why was I not surprised? Look, banning me only demonstrates how thin your skin really is. And let's face it, you may have a few hits on your site counter, but it's not as if anyone's posting, let alone on a regular basis. So it's your ball, you've decided to take it and end the game. I'll leave the kennel to Lassie and head back to WDW for yet another excellent vacation with my family."
John Frost wrote back to say, "I do try to strike a tone on The Disney Blog that's somewhere in the middle. Sometimes it leans toward Disney apologist, some days the other way. My sense of how businesses are best run may be different than yours. Your mileage will vary. But since it's my site one of the
luxuries is that I don't have to put up with people who insult me or
my readers. My suggestion is to find your own voice and start your own blog
chronicling everything you see Disney doing that is right. Call it The
Happy Disney Bouncing Fun Blog or something."
So, let this be a final lesson to those who still need one. Thoese kinds of folks are not interested in anything that pierces their chosen armor of discontent, and they have the power to perform the online version of sticking fingers in their ears so they don't even have to listen. Kind of funny, kind of sad. I've learned it's just best to leave them to each other's company.
What I am amazed at and grateful for is how Disney CMs--every time I've been onstage--never allow these folks to get to them and more often than not find a way to brighten the SG's day...or at least keep them moving along toward the exits. :)
Thanks again, CMs. I hope this posts saves its readers a few otherwise-wasted hours surfing the web for balanced WDW information.
