At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

So in March I'm going on a cruise leaving out of the port of Miami. I started looking at airline prices, which are ridiculous, but I digress. I finally found a really good set of prices on Southwest.com and made the reservations.
It wasn't until I got the confirmation letter and was sending an e-mail out to a friend that I realized I just bought two roundtrip tickets to Orlando instead of Miami. Southwest doesn't even fly to Miami!
Luckily, since Southwest is the best airline evar, I was able to call them and they just canceled the tickets and refunded the money. Hooray!
I may have a trip to Orlando in the summer, but not in March. It's really tough to catch a cruise ship out of Orlando, ya know?

No it's not! You're only an hour away from Port Canaveral. Actually, less than that if you fly into the airport. We love combining our Disney trips with a 3-day Disney cruise to the Bahamas.Buggy wrote: I may have a trip to Orlando in the summer, but not in March. Sure, if I were going on a Disney cruise. It's a considerably longer drive to the port of Miami.

Southwest does fly into Fort Lauderdale, though I don't have the faintest idea how difficult it would be to get from there down to the cruise ship terminal in Miami.

There is a shuttle that runs to the port. Takes about half an hour. Costs $15 plus tip. I haven't tried it myself, but I can give a report in March.Rob562 wrote:Southwest does fly into Fort Lauderdale, though I don't have the faintest idea how difficult it would be to get from there down to the cruise ship terminal in Miami.
Unfortunately, Southwest didn't have any flights that would allow me to make the ship. And I couldn't fly out the day before because I will be in Urinetown that night.

Re: Stupid Subliminal Wish Trick
Thanks for the tip, but I think we're set. We've got tickets to the right airport and transportation to and from the ship. I might not get any sleep getting there (I can't sleep on airplanes; I can barely sleep in a nice comfy bed), but who needs sleep? It's a vacation, right?Doctor McKey wrote:i cant remember which it is.. either alleigance air or spirit air that flies to miami from otwon for 30 each way..... google them and see if youcan do it that way
OTOH, we're looking at hitting Orlando this summer. I've never been to Orlando in the summer. Should be fun, or at least warm.

Saying it will be warm is one of the biggest understatements I have seen on here. I have been down there in the summer and can't stand it. Who am I kidding, I can't stand summer here in Utah, I just wasn't built for extreme temperatures.Buggy wrote:OTOH, we're looking at hitting Orlando this summer. Well, your fire-breathing would tend to warm up the atmosphere around you...Lasolimu wrote:Saying it will be warm is one of the biggest understatements I have seen on here.
