If you rode the Epcot Employee Shuttle Today...

Post by Big Wallaby » Fri Jun 29, 2007 4:13 pm

Today, I had Epcot training, due to a scheduling glitch. The previous time I had it, I only got the second day in because my schedule had said to come in at 11:00 until about 01:00 that day, as I found out later, and so they floated me. I was re-doing the training today, even though I had gone to the training department and let them know I didn't need further training, as I had got to all the important parts. However, they didn't change my schedule around, and so I was in training today. Since I was repeating, the trainer had me sit in back and just ride along. It was really about like having a paid day off at work.

My trainer decided to have us run the Epcot Employee Shuttle today instead of tomorrow. Had me drive it once just to prove I had done it before. Since I didn't spend most of the time driving, I had fun with the microphone, making public service announcements for laughs. At one point, I had the whole bus gonig. I would be the announcer voice welcoming people on board personally, to their laughs and stuff. We had a great time. Finally, the trainer pulled out his phone as it had some MP3's on it, and we played them over the PA, with people outside the bus giving us strange looks. I stopped making announcements while under Test Track when a couple guests looked down at the bus and started laughing. How they heard me at 45 mph is beyond me, but it appears they did :p: . So be careful what you say standing under Test Track.

It's some of the most fun I've ever had on a Disney bus.

Oh, so to finish my thoght from the title,

If you rode the Epcot Employee Shuttle today and rode with a strange trio of bus drivers, that was us. I hope to make occasional cameos back there, too.

Now that'd be an odd request. "Yes, I'd like to visit WDW, but I just want to ride the cast bus all day."

No you don't. Most of the time it's just a bus to work. It's rare that the drivers interact with the CM's. With the exception of the Epcot ES, it's no more than a 2-3 minute trip (5 if you need to stop at the light on Center Drive). You don't have enough time to get into an act.

Wallaby: Finished PI training last night and starting Epcot on Sunday. I'm thinking I'm going to like PI. :)

Very cool! I think you will, too. It's fun. Especially when you get the people who are tipsy but not sloshed.

And over at Epcot, you will love the Coordinator, Carol. I think she's going to be off when you get trained, but she is truly amazing. At times (many of them) she is both Field 3 and Zone 3. I wish we could clone a couple times her and put the other hers in a couple other hubs (not MK or PI).

Not to mention that 3/4 of the CMs on the MK bus are on their cell phones the entire trip, especially going home at night.

It's like these kids had been deprived of all human contact for the day ... and their co-workers don't count.

And yes, I'm one of the old farts in the back who's having a conversation a kid who's talking to somebody who isn't there. They *hate* when I do that!
