We haven't lost enough homes yet. As of 5:30 HST today the highway has closed for the third time. Lots of tourists will be staying in gyms tonight. A large agricultural/housing area was evacuated this afternoon.

hobie, beer seems a common choice by another on this site. :D: OMG, are you related to darph? Perhaps the oldest sibling? New study has found the first born is most intelligent. ;) Poor press here as I've heard nothing abt fire in Hawaii. Stay safe my friend!

The Dog is okay. He's on Oahu and is probably too mean to get singed.

A small home and garage were lost yesterday. It could have been a lot worse. The telephone cables feeding this end of the island were fried last night but restored mid morning today. It looks like the fire is pretty much out. It consumed over 2000 acres.

MS, I'm sorry I used beer as the consumable we were running low on. I'm more of a Margarita kinda guy. We live about six miles north of the fire so we're in good shape. Thanks for your thoughts.

The local fire department really could use a 747 water bomber. All they have currently is a dinky chopper with what looks like a 100 gallon bucket. The good news is the ocean is never more than five minutes away for a refill.

Tequila? Rock star does good.

*sigh* I was at two mexican food places tonight, and all I drank was diet coke... stupid diet. I could have had margarita, a mojoito or both!
