Smoke at Magic Kingdom

Post by JustZac » Mon Jun 25, 2007 6:12 am

Yesterday morning was incredibly smoky when we opened the park. Some guest asked me as I was unloading him from the ride if the wood smell was because of the smoke...

I was wondering about it myself, too. It's off to the west of property, as it is visible to the west from both MK and DAK.

It's west of the parks and north of 192. DH and I noticed it driving to church Sunday morning. By Monday morning smoke was covering 192 like thick fog. I didn't go out there this morning, but I hope it is better. I tried to find something on the news or internet about the fire but couldn't.

I was watching the plume grow the other day and did comment to my trainer that it looked like a pretty good brush fire and that it was growing. Of course she looked at me and said how do you know. I tell her what my experience is and how I know brush fires and their charcteristics. I could also tell by the smell.

I guess the old nose still knows.

Whatever it is, it is big enough that we noticed it up here in Winter Park this morning.

I smelled it over by UCF this morning. Was thinking brush fire. I kind of like the smell, reminds me of NJ in the winter when all the fireplaces are lit.

Fire In Fruity Drink Land

Post by hobie16 » Thu Jun 28, 2007 1:25 pm

A brush fire that started about 10:30 AM yesterday has cut off all access into and out of the West Maui area for the last 24 hours.

PROS: No tourists able to get into the area to clog up the roads.

CONS: Beer supply running low.
