darph, I always shutter when you say this then give advise. Have asked you a few times & all I've ever gotten was muddled disaster. Remember the U/L pic or Em pic fiasco? Don't even ask. No one wants to know! :( How long did this take to accomplish? 3 months. HA! Your advise isn't worth a wooden nickel, jello, melting ice, or the wood in a pine float. ;) Stay with what you know best. Pop tops. :p:

Big Wallaby wrote:Oooh, Hippie, can I befriend you and your husband? I am curious about some things, like how I was scheduled for two shifts three hours apart, when drivers should never be scheduled for that as they legally can't do it.

But my more important question, does your husband think they can actually make WorkBrain work, or do they just need to take it over by VM South and shoot it?
About the schedules, he said that WorkBrain does not do schedules, those come from other systems, and each one just tells WorkBrain what to do. He said bus drivers have their own system, and he has no idea who is behind it. He has heard people around his office talking about this problem, but he doesn't know any details and it's not his team.

He said WorkBrain is a good system, it was just put into prod waaaaaay too early, before all the kinks were worked out. Now that's his job. He said he is headed in the right direction.

And Cran, do you know the team that is hiring in IT?

COUGHMiMsCOUGH!

I went into scheduling today, told them about my problem, and their response was that I was the latest in a very long line to come to them about that, and that they needed to run an algorithm to fix it, that they just hadn't gotten around to it yet.

It's the Wednesday before the week that is a problem. If they haven't run that stupid algorithm now, when are they going to?

And Darph, thanks for the advice, especially about flying things. For now, rental is actually my best option. Eventually, I'll own my own airplane, and my wife her helicopter. But not while we work where we do now.

So Wallaby are they going to come here and write:

"I had a bad day because of stupid computer programmers who messed up the system. All day I had these big burly bus drivers hauling in here ranting about not having the right shifts. Like see the hand, it aint my fault. I did not mess up the logarithms. What a bunch of whiners."

I feel sorry for the ones who have to deal with upset CMs.

I went in there being very nice, trying to understand. They worded it in such way that showed they don't care about anyone's needs at all, and they don't care to work to make things right, unless someone calls them on it.

My problem is that I am not there to do the least work possible and try to collect a paycheck on the least productivity I can. People that ARE there for that reason frustrate and annoy me to no end.

Please note, I didn't show my annoyance at the scheduling person in any way. However, as she was talking out her butt, we were having two conversations: I was answering like I was understanding her, but instead I was understanding that she was there in no way to help me. As far as she is concerned, I am just a pawn to be moved around, and she would rather I not come bug her again for anything. She will have her wish, because in the future I won't deal with her.

Here's my thing: Had she pretended to care, to see me as a human being, she would have diffused me right then and there. I'm pretty gullible to people pretending to care (if they do a good job at it). She didn't even pretend, and just talked down to me the whole time.

That's exactly how i felt when my scheduling manager talked to me. I understand i may be younger than her...but they need me. and to treat me like im shit 2 times. I'm not down for that.
I hate summer
We have yet to see what the new schedule looks like.

I'm going to be the killjoy who once again brings up the fact that you are required to be fully available during the summer season to work at DL. Unless you are so high up in seniority that you do get your preferred hours most of the time, forget summer school.

Let me tell you how I got my B.A. - I had to stop working. Total truth. You have to be living at home to do that. I took the maximum I could take in student loans and grants, and I budgeted very carefully so that part of the money would cover my bills during the summer. I have five figures in student debt now, but at least I was able to devote all my attention to my studies when I needed to. I also graduated by my target date, because I took extra classes - my last semester I had 17 units. It just about killed me, but I did what I had to do. If you're willing to make some sacrifices and do without much of a social life, or buying anything extra that you don't need, go ahead and stop working. From what I understand, R.N.'s can pretty much go wherever they like and are in high demand, so you will be able to take care of any student debt you incur without too much of a problem. I'm working again part-time and I'm able to make my loan payments without too much of a problem, and my husband doesn't bitch about me going to work full time while I'm trying to find something that suits my education and temperment.

Good luck.

Yeah...I do want to quit. Badly.
Or atleast find some was to go on medical leave...and come back once class ends.
I have a chance. I have a rare condition. Anywayss
The thing is, I have a car to pay off and my dad is bitching about how disneyland is such a good place to work at and i should stay there and this is all my fault and stuff like that. He doesn't know what i go through.
It's only my first year in college...I'm one of those kids that likes to get ahead.
and it's only the GEs...So i figured. If they do follow my schedule...Everything will be cool...Ill take longer breaks to read when its slow. and just read my brains out.
Then when fall comes...Ill work weekends only.
but once i finish all my GEs and start getting into the required classes...Ill quit. my car should be paid off by then...and parents are paying for college.
Sometimes I wish i would have filled out the FAFSA...But i think we make too much.

So are you an RN? I don't understand the whole becoming a nurse thing...Like what exactly has to be done. I haven't seen a counselor yet.
Sorry for rambling.
