I need Advice

Post by surfbillab0ng » Mon Jun 18, 2007 4:05 pm

Okay. So me and scheduling are having major problems. I think they hate me and they dont want me to go to college
They keep scheduling me on days i have summer classes. I turned in my preference sheet like 5 weeks ago.
did any of you go to college during the summer and work?
If they dont get the next schedule right...I'm putting in my 2 weeks.
am i overreacting or what?

I would recommend you read some recent posts.

One of those was a bus driver who, like other bus drivers, is federally mandated to take 8 hours off between shifts. He got a pair of shift that were only three hours apart. It is not uncommon for there to be scheduling hassles. Take photocopies and screenshots as well as print out everything you get related to scheduling.

Any scheduling screw up means you are at fault unless you can prove your innnocence. This is not an American court of law, lol and is typical Disney backward thinking. Good luck.

Not sure how it works in other departments, but here's what I was told and have (close to) proven to be (mostly) true in buses.

Fill out that "Dream Sheet" at least twice a month, and resubmit it to scheduling. I guess on WorkBrain, it forgets about your requests within a month. If you keep re-submitting, it helps where I am.

Don't know how that will hold up for you, but it's worth a shot.

No Surfbill, you aren't overreacting! Your college education is your life's foundation. Have you spoken to your Home Team manager? Maybe your dept. doesn't have Home Teams. Also talk with other manger(s), & the Complex Manager - if Foods has one. While you are trying to find all these managers run up to Foods Scheduling & speak to the head of your scheduling dept. You may have never seen him/her but these CMs do exist. Ask for the name of CM manager in charge of entire Foods & make an appointment or just drop in on this CM. All this comes from Stores' Dept. which may be totally diff. from Foods. When I was asking for a huge favor last May ;) I was shocked by the chain of command. All those little cubicles do contain real CMs who are able to override most every rule & explain options if a rule can't be tweeked. Good Luck! Don't quit. :)

umm yeah. one of the scheduling managers I'm sure is fed up with me cuz whenever i try to talk to them they always raises their voice or get some type of attitude.. I honestly dont want to be stuck there past my 2nd year in college. Nothing against disney. (they did buy me my truck) but im trying to get as much school in as possible to transfer..Plus my major is going to kill me.
Nursing. haha good luck to me.
There's one manager who is also going/went to the same college as me so she is much more understanding. But she's gone for 2 weeks.
It doesn't help getting yelled at by guests who don't appreciate anything I do for them.
I'll see on the new schedule. If i don't see blanks on mon and wed. Im done.
I"m not a slave.
I know thats what i signed up for but still

And this is why we have a high turn over rate
plus i was scheduled on a weekday...scheduling knew i was still in hs and worked only weekends. yet they still scheduled me on a thursday...the day before finals...ugh

sorry im very bitter and had a long day at school.

DH works on WorkBrain. He said they are doing some work on WorkBrain right now that is causing the preferences to not be saved for long periods of time. They are aware of the problem, but it might be a while until it gets fixed. He suggests just resubmitting often, like Wallaby said.

Oooh, Hippie, can I befriend you and your husband? I am curious about some things, like how I was scheduled for two shifts three hours apart, when drivers should never be scheduled for that as they legally can't do it.

But my more important question, does your husband think they can actually make WorkBrain work, or do they just need to take it over by VM South and shoot it?

After the problems that Wall and I have had, I'm surprised that you admitted to this. ;) ;)

Only kidding. I do hope that he can make it work better, It sucks the way it is now.

PS: Think he can get me into IT? Heard a rumor today that they would be hiring a tech type that needs at least an A+ cert. I have that and more.
