Oh, the people who are actually well-to-do at places like YBC are pretty nice. Many of the ones who are stretching to be there are pretty nice as well, most of the time. However, it's from THAT particular demographic that you see the people who are looking at staying there as a chance to be "above" someone else.

It's kinda like what my wife tells me, as a lifeguard at Stormalong Bay. Most of the people there are nice, but there are some of them who have but one reply when she asks them to please not climb on the rocks, or to do something for their (or their kids') safety: "Do you know how much I am paying to stay here?"

If the price you pay to be here makes you feel that you have the right to look down your nose at me, then do so. But if you are the type to do that, please know that I don't think you're capable of having fun at Disney World. The trappings of society for which that kind of person stays at the upper end resorts restricts them from actually having fun when here.

Susi, I do not talk at all against the people like you. I've had the opposite experience from what I am talking about here, at YBC, too. I had one person who was sitting at the very back of the bus, who came to the front to get off after everyone else was gone. He asked if he could please tip me, to which I gave the standard answer about not being allowed to accept tips. He said fine, said he had forgot something back in his seat (which he had, a camera bag), and went back to retrieve it. He came all the way back to the front, thanked me again and got off. I didn't think anything of it, until I walked the bus before turning it in at FIW. In the back seat, where he had been sitting, was a crisp $20.

I haven't given up on the people at YBC. It's just that, as a group, it can be a little more difficult to engage certain types of people staying there, and to get them to realize they CAN have fun on a bus.

Not having any 'Yahoos' at work, then going home to a 'cold one' (duh).
My perfect day would be sitting in the back of the bus with Cranz or Big W,(and said cold one),doing DONUTS in the parking lot. I'd be back there yelling like Crush "Righteous,Righteous".

Hey,a guy can dream,can't he? :D:

I'd be right there with the cooler! Dude, that'd be so sweet to see one of those busses doing donuts. That could be a new attraction, just put a Cars theme to it and the SG's will flock to it like a moth to a bug light (hey, another Pixar themed attraction for the SG's!)

Could some older busses be volunteers in the Cars Stunt Show? Zazu could bring marshmallows to roast on the burning Novas. Mi coche no va means my car does not run.

I had a stinky day today but it was nice to see mom scarfing down dinner and seeing that people liked my list of acronyms. It is nice to help people. Can someone hand me another marshmallow and can I drive next the busses next?

Would it lower anyone's opinion of me to know that I actually have done doughnuts in a bus? What if I said it was on purpose? And what if I said I had a trainer on board when I did it?

So Darph, your idea is not THAT far off kilter, and actually, if put in a parking lot in the snow with nothing sticking up and the lot is big enough, I would be willing to do it again.

So when do you expect snow in central Florida? ;)

Is the VTOL strip wide enough for doughnuts? And is that where you guys did some or most of your training?

[quote="leftcoaster"]So when do you expect snow in central Florida? ]I drive near snow every day, working Animal Kingdom. Of course, the snow isn't very cold, but it's still snow, right?

VTOL... uh, not quite sure what that is, as it's not on Churchy's list :D: . Only VTOL I know is Vertical Takeoff and Landing. If that's what you're thinking of, then no, it's not. Perhaps for one of the Novas, however, it would be possible. I've heard many stories of them being spun when it rains. Of course, if the drivers would just SLOW DOWN a bit when it rains... but I digress.
Many of them remind me of a certain bird we all know... :roadrunne

I could spin anything at Stolport, though, given the proper conditions, and nothing parked on the strip. Actually, I'd like to conduct some speed tests there. Doubt I'd get permission...

Other things to help make our days brighter ... when you're on a spieling attraction,(Jungle Cruise, Kilimanjaro, Great Movie Ride, Backlot Tour), remember, whoever is behind that microphone is putting on a SHOW for you. Listen to them, pay attention, laugh at their jokes however lame, applaud them at the end of their performance.

As someone with experience in high-spiel attractions, it gives me a huge energy boost to know that my guests are appreciating my efforts. Nothing takes away energy faster than a dead-a$$ crowd. The thought process is something like "why should I put on a good show if they don't care anyways?"

VTOL does mean Vertical Takeoff and Landing.
I believe he is referring to the airstrip at WDW.

http://www.airfields-freeman.com/FL/Air ... htm#disney
This discusses the main WDW airport that was constructed because some construction matrials were too large to be transported by roads.

http://www.airfields-freeman.com/FL/Air ... andoSW.htm
This discusses and has images of the Epcot Center Ultralight Flightpark which now has the Pop Century Legendary Years Resort built on top of it. At Pop Century on the northwest corner is a couple of T shaped buildings that are where that airport was located.

Location
On the north is 7 Sea Dr. which becomes Timberlane Dr.
On the west and running parallel to the strip is the monorail and World Drive.
There is a parking lot there and a pair of lanes leading to runway.
On the south is Vista Drive.

Head west from Fort Wilderness toward World Drive. The road will be going northwest at some point. It then goes west again and at the turn is a small road on the left heading southwest. About 600 feet past the turn is a small concrete road, not blacktop, that heads north.

Better yet use google maps, lol.

STOL Port = Short TakeOff and Landing. It was used during MK construction.

Until about 2000 it was on the Jacksonville Sectional Aeronautical Chart and was referred to on the map as (PVT) Lake Buena Vista.

It can still be used for landing helicopters and small planes in an emergency. Remenber that landing on Mickey's kingdom is not allowed. It has been used for busses to practice on and for stacking busses during major events like Grad Night.

Try this site, it was fun for me.
