Sounds like DLR and WDW have a few different radio codes ... here are some that we use at WDW, that haven't been mentioned yet.

10-5 - I Don't really care what you said, but I'm acknowledging your transmission (may be specific to my attraction)
10-20 - Location
10-45 - Call me
10-51 - En Route to
10-56 - Meet me at
10-81 - Lunch
10-82 - Dead hooker in Ben Affleck's Trailer (pretty sure this one is specific to my attraction, and to "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back")
10-100 - Radio Silence / Essential Communications only

10-100 Emergency communication.

My personal favorite is 10-54. That would be anything from "no" to "not a f****** chance."

Cranbiz, do you know what our equivelant of 10-82 for PI (Pleasure Island) is?

Also, the thing that MiMs stands for is "Magic In Motion System" by a company named Clever Devices. As Cranbiz mentioned, it is the new computer system, and I found out today that it is probably going to be used on the Monorail.

The MiMs is going to be a really, really cool system when they finish it, I'm thinking I'll start liking it somewhere around Phase VII (only four phases are planned at this time). Right now the system has control of the driver and their interaction with the guests. I'll like it when I can control the system and my interaction with the guests, when it enhances my interaction with the guests.

If Signal 105 is not "Hot Guest", what is? I need to know these things, with the regularity with which I have been going through TL and BB (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) the last couple days! :D:

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Chuck, don't take this the wrong way.

I'm not trying to be rude or flame you in any way.

These acronyms/codes/signals are what we use at work. It's a natural extension of our language and the intended audience of these posts understand exactly what we are saying.

It's not a "stop and smell the roses" or a "too busy" thing. It's like 2 or more CM's (cast members) talking at break. I would talk to Wallaby the same way I'm writing. Why you ask, because we do the same job and these "shorthand type" codes are some of what we do. It's natural for us to talk/type this was because we use these all the time.

So thats why. It's not meant to confuse. When you get right down to it, it's not 2 pages of acronyms, it's 2 pages of posts about different acronyms with many of us posting to be helpful. If you combine the posts and add the additional explainations it's about a page. I don't see many of us changing our writing styles, maybe a sticky with all of the acronyms would be helpful to those not in the know.

Wallaby, I don't know what our equivelent of DL's 10-82 is. I haven't been trained at PI yet. If I find out before you I'll add it here.

I was planning to go through the transportation CMs' posts and add those acronyms but I zoned out. Fingers are fined but my wrist is out. I have a wrist problem because the desk is to high or the chair too low.

Guys please do not blame yourself because other boards which have SGs also use acronyms, some of which I did not post as I rarely see them over here. Now if we had an edit button on that post then I could make a really nice list. As you see there is a lot of stuff that was wrong and posted on the internet. Great job on getting them acronyms right as I could not do it all by myself.

I am used to reading posts by people in transportation. I been with the site to know that famous 101 as in "Dratted Dasani bottle caused the ride to go 101". It will take about 5 years of disney boards and this site to learn most of the lingo and I am still learning after at least 7 years.

Actually the device's proper name is "Intellegent Vehicle Network" by Clever Devices. MiM's (Magic in Motion) is the name given to it by WDW.

I can see that the vehicle maintenance monitoring value to the monorails, but do they really need vehicle tracking and GPS triggered automated spiels? Are we adding marquees to the monorails so that MiM's can screw those up too! If the monorails go pilotless, who is going to operate the console? Is the trained Monkey going to log in? Although I'll bet that the monorails won't have as many T codes.

It's not like you have a fleet of 300 monorails that cover more than 300 miles of roads.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the monorails already have automated spiels and info? Backgroung music could be done a lot easier and cheaper than MiM's (and work better too!)

Churchy,

You did a great job. There is no need to apologise. If we all were perfect then there would be no need for SGT.

Besides it's the thought that counts. I have a dozen virtual roses to send your way.

What we can do is copy the list that you did into one's favorite editing program and make the corrections that have been posted and then present one current and pretty complete list which is appropriate for this site. As I suggested, maybe one of the Mods could make it a "sticky" if there is enough demand.

We're working to develop a FAQ just for acronyms. Give us a couple of weeks, as I'm nearly offline and others are busy. Volunteers should apply to the admins by "reporting" this post.
