How often does WDW have to call the police?
How often does WDW have to call the police?
Holy crap, just read about this (my puter was down so I'm behind the times a bit) Was just wondering how often SG are so beyond control that the local cops get called in? Anyone have any good stories to share? I hate that you CM's have to put up with this kind of bullsh*t.

From Newsday.com comes this info:Five from Shirley charged in Disney brawl
BY JOSEPH MALLIA
May 22, 2007, 2:04 PM EDT
Five Shirley residents on a vacation to Disney World were arrested Sunday on felony charges of assaulting a sheriff's deputy and resisting arrest, Orange County, Fla., authorities said.
The four teenagers and one woman, all of whom appeared to be drunk, fought back against arresting officers until one of them was stunned with a Taser and they finally submitted handcuffs, according to the arresting officer's report.
The five were first taken into custody by Magic Kingdom security guards for repeatedly cursing and spitting at other guests, the report said.
When a county sheriff's deputy arrived, the five "ran towards me and started punching and pushing me. I was punched in the face with closed fists several times by all defendants," he said in his report.
The five all gave the same home address in Shirley. Arrested were Rose Dipietro, 20; Brian Guilfoil, 19; and three other teens - 17, 16 and 14, all Longwood school district students - whose names Newsday is not revealing because they are underage.
There was no immediate response to a voice mail request for comment left at the Shirley telephone number the five gave to arresting officers.
"I defended myself by throwing counter punches in their faces and bodies in an attempt to break free," the deputy wrote.
The five formed a circle around the officer and attacked him from all sides, the report said.
"As I was defending myself against one defendant, the remaining four defendants were punching me from behind," the report said. "When I turned to defend myself against the group, the person that I was initially fighting would attack me again by punching and pushing."
Then when he saw the 17-year-old girl punch Disney security guard Michael Torantello, 24, of Lake Buena Vista, Fla., in the face, the deputy took out his Taser, and the situation was soon under control, according to the report.
It happened at Space Mountain, the minors were ages 14, 16 and 17 from Longwood School District, the 17 year old girl also faces charges of battery of a uniformed officer, they all appeared to be drunk, and this is their high school http://www.longwood.k12.ny.us/lhs/ .All five, arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, were charged with resisting arrest and battery on a law enforcement officer. Guilfoil and DiPietro were each released Monday on $2,300 bond. Authorities would not say Tuesday if the youths were still in custody
Those are the fact so what to think. It is interesting that they were appearing drunk in a park that does not serve booze. I wonder what made them attack not just security guards but also sheriff's deputies. What were 5 people under the age of 21 doing in the parks while on vacation but not having an adult present Where were their parents? I believe they were supposed to be in school. Sigh, so sad that they have ruined their lives this way.
Great post and thank you. Reminds us what some of the CMs have to go through at parks.

We were at MK yesterday. We didn't see anything.
When I got home and watched the news (Tampa), I found it interesting that they did not mention where exactly the brawl occurred. I don't know what is wrong with people these days. Common sense seems to have flown out the window, along with manners, and some other common courtesies.

To answer your Topic Question, the Reedy Creek Police Department, and Osceola Sheriff department are called out to the All-Star Resorts ALL the time. Mainly Guest Disturbances, like Radio Cranked up, Drunken Parties, Assualt, Pop Warner Cheerleaders, etc... Its mostly confined to the All-Star Sports resorts due to the Sports/Cheerleading teams that stay there for tournaments at WWOSC.Marilou wrote:Holy crap, just read about this (my puter was down so I'm behind the times a bit) Was just wondering how often SG are so beyond control that the local cops get called in? They do have speed posts on the roads on property as well.

I believe they were taken backstage fairly quickly and then it continued there. SOP.APtink wrote:We were at MK yesterday. We didn't see anything.

as i read the newspaper yesterday morning i saw the article in the Newsday paper. they are low life white trash and i hope they do jail time. they come from an area known for people just like them. it's a shame that those individuals ruined the other guests day.

I know at D/L the Anaheim PD has a substation at the resort, you can see it from the Monorail. I have seen Anahiem PD outside the park entrances and DTD using electric Gemcars for patrol vehicles. I would guess there is some sort of law enorcement agency on or very close to the WDW property (ready Creek maybe?) I have also see sherrifs deputies at Animal Kingdom just kinda hanging around. I would be interested in knowing what kind of law enforcement presence there is at WDW.
I would think theft would be fairly high at the parks since I see so many SG's leave valuables unattended all the time at the parks (strollers with camera bags/purses in them, the CM's will watch over them I'm sure) so I would think things dissapear on a daily basis. I have only seen one person at D/L upset because something went missing, but I would also guess they move this sort of thing backstage fairly quickly. I was at C/A one day, just finished a snack at Burrrbank icecream, had my now ex step son with me on leave from USN, had my backpack on the table, he stood up and I stepped over to toss my garbage and a guy made a beeline for my backpack. I have no dought he was going to grab my backpack and keep walking (I had my eye on it all the time and step sons a Navy Cop) he got about five feet away and the looks he got from both of us discouraged his attempt, it was funny to watch.

Yup, Reedy Creek. You can call them Disney World's very own REAL police, Fire and Medical Department.
Actually, it's really nice when someone gets legitimately hurt. The guest doesn't incur the cost of the ambulance ride because Disney owns the (real) ambulance. Also, all 911 calls from landlines on property go directly to Reedy Creek Dispatch. Faster dispatch and it rarely goes out over county airwaves.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I can't imagine what it had been like for all the CM's and guests around watching all this. Frikkin insane is what I say. I mean God, you've got to have no life in order for that even to cross your mind to do such a thing. drunk or sober.

Actually the parks are pretty safe. There are the obvious uniformed CMs like janitors, security, ride operators and sales persons but there are also undercover security staff as well as CMs in street clothes on stage. I cannot remember ever having anything stolen except for in pin trading. Lost yes but not stolen. The park in an instant can shut down and keep the bad guys in. The parks have been operating for 50 years and are rather well equiped for protecting guests.
I even seen them once bring out a dog to sniff a back pack that was left leaning against a light pole on main street in disneyland.
Sorry but no light right now in my room so i am messing up especially with capital letters.
