Plese allow me to introduce myself
I've responded to a few posts and read quite a few more so I thought it was time to introduce myself. My name is Steve and well, I'm one of those stupid guests. I love the Disney parks and I'm an APer at D/L. I live in Sacramento and make several trips down a year. I want to start by saying thanks to all the CM's on both coasts for doing a great job.
I'm not your normal SG, I've been working with the public for about 25 years now mostly in the automotive field. I currently manage a tow company where I have worked for about 18 years and before that I worked in a couple of gas stations. I am also a student and study art/photography at American River College. I can tell you, that while many of your stories are unique to the Theme park industry, people are stupid all over. At least you get to see them while they are supposed to be in a happy time, while on vacation. If I encounter them on vacation they havent even made it to Disneyland yet. The people I deal with are pissed of because their car is broken, or they got arrested or something like that. We service AAA and I can tell you AAA members are worse than the APers, and since AAA has deals with Disney I'm sure you have encountered this also.
Some of the stories I have read about APers do piss me off so please dont lump all of us together, I would never think of doing some of the things I have read about here. (my mother raised me with some manners and I was taught the world doesnt owe me anything) I know what my AP does for me and dont expect anything more. I think I'm one of those guests/APers you all like to see. I follow directions and believe the CM, who represents Disney is the one in charge and their directions are to be followed. I say hello and smile and try to call you by your first name and I say thank you, even for something as simple as having you point me towards the exit. I never even thought of stopping at city hall and filing a complaint. I know what its like to work with the public and I know you all have a tough job and cant always be smiling and rolling out the red carpet, especially when its busy. Sometimes you just have to keep the crowds moving. I do try to stop by city hall and pass on a compliment every time I go, it always seems like I get great service but there is at least one CM that really stands out and I want Disney to know about them.
So everyone, keep up the great work, remember to stop by the parks sometime when your off work and enjoy them as they were meant to be enjoyed. I will see you all at the parks.
Thank you
Steve SG

Re: Plese allow me to introduce myself
There are two times when the park visitor truely experiences the magic of visiting Disney:
The first time visitor where everything is new and wonderful and the CMs are seen as the happiest, politest people making magic happen whether behind the food kiosk or at an attraction or just sweeping up.
and:
The seasoned guest (AP or frequent visitor) who gets it, and, with the CMs, create their own magic.
There are many that fall into the category of 'stupid guest', but then many are just oblivious to the true magic that can occur. While they don't do anything stupid, mean, or disrespectful, they treat a visit to Disney like a visit to Six Flags - a place to go on rides. It is sad they just don't get it.
You, svickersart, get it. Never apologize for having an annual pass. It is not that card that makes a stupid guest, but the attitude that often follows it. You help make the magic by treating a trip to Disneyland as it is meant to be, a visit to the Magic Kingdom. Thanks for your patronage!

Re: Plese allow me to introduce myself
Thanks for the nice replies. I know both LJ and Chimas, been in the business to long. Guess I shouldnt lump all AAA members together either, I have a card myself, GF works for them, maybe its because we see so many of them.
Six Flags, no thanks, I wont even go to the fairs anymore, I save my money for D/L. And WDW. Ill be headin down to D/L June 22-25 for my B day, and WDW Nov 10-19. Hope also for D/L first weekend in August, boss' kid wants to go to blizzcon and he doesnt like him to make the drive alone so he goes to convention, I go to Disneyland, boss pays for room. Want to go during halloween again this year too, and any other time I can get away.
Hope to see you all there, I'm the portly, dorky guy with a D/L t shirt and hat and big grin on my face, of course probably not the only one.
Thanks
Steve

Hey svickersart.Main Streeter is absolutely correct.I do have a tutor, his first name is Macmillan, his last name is dictionary.(also doubles as a coaster,my wife 'hates' beer can/bottle rings on the computer desk)
When I can't find my 'coaster',my grandson helps me out. :D:

Welcome to the site, you seem to be a good poster. I am called pain in the neck, feather ruffler, annoying pest or Churchy. Few ever know me as Laurie as I prefer Churchy. Any job dealing with the public is going to have a few good SG type stories. Wallaby and Cranbiz have me reminiscing about the good old days of driving sweepers and the horrid tourists.
Have fun here and the only person here that bites, um I mean pecks, is Zazu and he can peck like no other bird.

Well, that's an unintended consequence. I'm so sorry.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I am a lady and would never stoop that low. I will instead google that, lol. I will stay away from the topic due to the other meaning of that word, lol.Zazu wrote:Is that another pecker joke?
I love reminiscing the three months I taught driver's ed and the time spent, way too long, driving sweepers. It was a good time though both jobs ruined my health, the first was a major case of laryngitis, sore throat and other stuff while other did minor damage to my chin and a lot of damage to my back and lungs. Mask who needs a mask, spitting dust out.
